But are you saying Angel can’t get fired up and show emotion without shite talking and taunting like Burrow can (what you quoted wasn’t even directed at Burrow but go ahead as that’s what you do). It kind of sounds like what you say others are.

I'm saying every player can and should talk shite if they want to. It's a fun part of sports.

Just answer it. I will add it again.
quote:

After winning the championship did Burrow chase down a player from Clemson trying to leave the field to talk shite and do some stupid thing from WWE? And I already said Clark looks stupid doing it.

If Burrow did this as well then yes it was a shite move by him. If you can’t see the difference between in game talk and being an arse after winning the championship than that’s on you.

Is it really always about fun in actual games? When 2 friends are playing a friendly pick up game and talk a little shite it can be fun. It does not always stay in friendly range in college or pro games and can get trashy at times. It can also move far beyond the team and into the look at me crap and can also be stupid or complete trash at times based on situation including after you win the game and more so when you win it all or when you are getting beat down badly.

Regardless That’s not what you said when you quoted me out of context and then replied.
quote:

quote:

You can get fired up and show some emotion without sny shite talking or taunting of an opposing player.

So it's fine for Joe Burrow, but Angel Reese should just shutup and dribble.

Got it.

You implied a different standard. Got it.

Go back and read your reply to what you quoted out of context.

You took a general observation that getting emotional and being fired up doesn’t always include trash talk or taunting, and basically said that’s fine for Burrow but Angel needs to go dribble. And then added the got it.

Here let me show you again.
quote:

quote:

So it's fine for Joe Burrow, but Angel Reese should just shutup and dribble.

Got it.

Here is the entire paragraph. I hadn’t mentioned Burrow in 2 or 3 paragraphs before this. You went out of your way to add Burrow back in as focus of quote and added that Angel had to dribble instead like she could only shite talk and taunt. It’s either that or you just wanted to make up what I said on your own like original did not still exist.
quote:

You can get fired up and show some emotion without sny shite talking or taunting of an opposing player. The Jordan smile and shrug after sinking a big 3 was just oozing with confidence and 100 times better at putting the other player in his place than some you can’t see me copied from fake WWE. Clark just seems passive aggressive doing it, and I think it looks silly. I thought Jordan Jefferson looked stupid doing it against North Carolina.

I’m 50 years old and played the big 3 sports in highschool. Plus track and soccer at a private (all white) and public school (95% black). There was trash talking in EVERY sport by every race back then. People like you that call the girls “thugs” for trash talking are just plain dumb and shows you obviously never played sports outside tee ball.
Jones pimped a homerun down 9 runs the other day. The UCLA center waved bye bye to Reese TWICE in the game you’re referring too. Funny you don’t mention either just the narrative that our black girls bball team are the trash talkers. Please stfu stop listening to the media narrative and grow up.

All renowned trash talkers, and superstars in their respective fields.

NO!! Talking shite within reason is how you intimidate your opponents, gives you or your team that Swag or Identity!! I love it personally and wish they let it go more. Its sports not cheerleading, stop being a pussy!! That's not oldschool, Butkis, LT, Ronnie Lott etc. Is old school!!

Dude. Your entire argument is based on Reese chasing her down after the game was over.

The game wasn’t over.

I get that. Actually...Bird's trash talk is some of the funniest I've ever heard. At the collegiate level...my perspective is that it is different. I know I'm in the minority here...but just offering my perspective. My kids will never say anything but "Good game"....because my opinion is that anything else is a bit trashy. To each their own.

wtf you gonna do if they are a senior and decide to talk shite? or what if they go on to play college ball and decide to talk shite? wtf you gonna do

the whole...my kids will never....is so fricking stupid and shows lack of awareness.

Basketball is a mental and physical game, trash talking is part of the mental aspect of the game. It’s been like that for a very very long time and isn’t going away.

How the hell did you jump from 'trash talkin' to
quote:

given license to act like a bunch of thugs

I'll say it and stand by it till it changes:
Black players talk trash(thugs).
Any body else talk trash(competitive)

I agree with you but we live in a different world. Sportsmanship is dismissed as meekness.

Look at baseball where every RBI, extra base hit, or HR is followed by chest beating and some kind of haka ritual when the old timers like Ruth used to run the bases, sometimes with head down, and let their bat speak for them. That's just what modern sports competition has become. It is what it is. No sense getting worked up about it.

Yes, I realize you think "thug" is a racist code word (it's not, in my opinion - there are plenty of thugs out there, of all stripes), but please give me the other racist code words.

And this is a serious question - please provide specific answers.
