Not a Joe Sloan hater, but wouldn't mind tweaking the OC position

Gotta be better schemes to run the ball, right?. Would it be weird to bring in Tommy Rees as a third co-OC and TE coach? Seeing how Alabama's offense and Jalen Milroe fell off a cliff this season, I'm a little more impressed with Rees than I used to be.

LSU isn't bad. What they do is effective, but it just always feels like something is missing. They are almost always in the same formations.

Gotta be a better overall scheme period. Not just running. For example…We needed a solid screen game all year and we don’t start throwing them till the last couple of games and tonight we threw them like 50 times.

Run game and red zone offense need to be addressed during the offseason.

His running schemes/play calling leave a lot to be desired.

Very unimaginative run game. That was the biggest drop with Denbrock departure. Very little creativity beyond inside zone handoffs.

Rees just makes a lot of sense to me, specially since he can coach TE.

You think Denbrock had creative runs?

The fact so many here focus on OC when we just scored 44 points, and not the DC and defense when we just let up 450 passing yards just goes to show how dumb the average fan is on here.

offense scored 30 points, bud. Plus, we know the problems with the defense and at least it improved from last year. Offense has more potential IMO.

it's the play calling

I bet you we run the ball on second down after an incomplete pass >95% of the time.

1 month ago, all of you were screaming for Sloan’s head. Then our offense played well against inferior teams with inferior talent, and then all of you changed your minds.

Here’s the reality: Sloan sucks against defenses that can match us with talent and coaching. He simply doesn’t have the experience. We need an OC with a proven track record.

LSU just has piss poor play design, blocking design. Until that changes significantly, LSU will be running these same plays with the same success 7 years from now and going 8-4 - 9-3 every single year.

In his first year as OC we have a QB that finished second in passing only to Joe Burrow in the history of LSU football. I will admit that I would like to see a better schemed running attack, but I think Sloan proved himself worthy this year. We have a gunslinger QB so it will be a pass first offense. I think, like any coach, Sloan will learn from this season and work to improve the running scheme. But man we have had some many OC’s that have not been close to Sloan level. The grass is not always greener on the other side. What we know is that he develops QB’s as good as anyone and really, what more do you want. I still remember when our starting QB was a Harvard transfer. We have a Heisman winner and a legit Heisman candidate next year under Sloan’s tutelage.

The OC was responsible for 30 of the points. A pick six and a returned kickoff don't go the the Offensive stats.
