but he is in a position to really lose the fan base as far as their interest and enthusiasm this year, and thus moral support if he won't consider a few changes. Daniels is a 4 year qb, and he ain't likely to learn any new tricks. he is what he is. we can win or lose from here on out with a freshman, and we might as well give the youngster some valuable experience. at least we would have some hope, which we don't with daniels.

also, taking the kickoff when you win the toss. this just seems so obviously wrong.

i think everyone can see that our offensive players, especially the skill positions, are getting demoralized.

again, i know it will take time for kelly, and i want to really get behind him. i just don't think he's doing himself any favors being bullheaded.

LSU Fans are NOT sane. They want everyone fired.

I am gonna sit back and watch this dumpster fire for the next 10 years.

Agree with first sentence, praying second sentence doesn't happen- it won't.

I'm certainly not calling for his firing. I just wish he would do a lot better than he's doing at rebuilding. I thought he was a much better coach than we've seen so far. Hopefully a lot of this is just getting settled in the job.

Unfortunately quite a few things have built up that are head scratchers that are his direct responsibility. He needs to get his coaches in order yesterday.

I wonder if Nuss and Howard are actually learning anything from JD or his play.

My guess is no.

No doubt. The backup is always better and the coach is always on the hot seat. It's truly remarkable. I just want to know how all these fans have access to see what the coaches can't. That LSU Gold subscription must be worth every penny.

Did y’all feel the same when Saban went 8-5 his first year??
Geez, it’ll be okay if we go 8-5 one year and then get more guys in the program. Why do y’all act like y’all can’t enjoy football if we don’t go 14-0?

LSU wasn't 2 years removed from a championship his first year. More like 42 years. Expectations are higher now. I'm not calling for his firing, and just want to see improvement week to week for this year, but what you said is apples and oranges.

tRant is NOT an accurate representation of LSU fans as a whole. Talk to any rational LSU fan and they’ll likely understand this is a rebuilding year. This place is generally a cesspool of loud dullards.

Not really

It has nothing to do with how far removed we are from a natty and everything to do with the state of the program when it was handed over to BK, which was extremely toxic and depleted.

Whoever had high expectations for this year needs a reality check.

Let's see if I understand this thread. You say a sane person is not going to start calling for Kelly's firing but at the same time, you think he should make a decision on who to play at QB based on what you perceive to be the fans' idea of who is a good QB.

Who is the Freshman you are talking about? Nuss is a redshirt, if it's Nuss, there are lots of people who disagree with you. If it's Howard, the plan was always to redshirt him, his dad wants that especially because he knows what it was like to get thrown into the fire as a true freshman.

Taking the kickoff is definitely counter to conventional wisdom now, there was a time when it was not. He had his reasons, it was probably a bad decision but the muff means whatever his reasons were got nullified.

People are surely reading a lot into our offensive players' body language after a loss.

And you think him playing the QB he thinks gives us the best chance of winning is being bullheaded? Or do you think he is intentionally playing a QB he thinks is not his best option without burning Howards redshirt? Because if that is the case, he should definitely be fired.

If anyone is going to be upset about a 6-7 win season considering the circumstances of the program during the offseason, then I don't know what to tell them.

What changes are expected? What else can you really change based on the current roster to expect LSU to actually win that game against Tennessee or future games against similar opponents this season?

I'm not sure why the expectations sky rocketed among this fanbase after a 4-1 start during the weakest stretch of our schedule. This roster is subpar and an entirely new (and polar opposite of the previous regime) culture is still being installed.

i just don't think he's doing himself any favors being bullheaded.

Year 1 has never been about making a legit run at anything of importance for this program under Kelly. Year 1 is about installing a new culture and building towards future years.

Not saying you OP are calling for his head or thinks he's on the hot seat, but a lot of this fanbase are and it's absurd.

Let Kelly work his process. No coach on any level was going to turn this dumpster fire of a roster nor this program around in year 1.

Must be the culture gap. Waaay too early for all this. Complaining about things that are obviously not working not is a time honored tradition here. But there has to be some recognition that 11 guys in a new system will take at least a season to get comfortable enough in it to play relaxed. A lack of confidence seems to be at least part of the equation. With the right spark that can change quickly. RE: TN recovering the opening kick off.

I'm beginning to really hate the "play so and so for experience" narrative. You play the guy that you think gives you the best chance to win, experience be damned. How do you convey to the other 100+ guys on the roster that you're going to play a lesser guy to the detriment of everyone else on the roster?
