Dude read your own thread subject line for fricks sake. Now u just sound like a child arguing for the sake of arguing. What you said was different t than my response. Any objective person can read what we both posted and can tell the difference. But here’s the big catch though….are you ready??

No one cares. We lost a good coordinator. Who cares. They matter but not as much when you have a serious head coach who is invested in the program. That is what we have needed. A guy that won’t bail or spend a year or two patting himself on the back for past success. If you wanted a more business like CEO then this is what it will be like because coordinators will continue to come to LSU and be successful with the kind of athletes that are at LSU.

LSU needs more D-linemen & a few CB's before a DC is going to make a serious difference.

I disagree.

We didn’t have the talent to be an elite defense, but we really couldn’t even be a mediocre defense? We didnt just look slow, we often looked clueless.

When it comes down to it talent is what matter the most. Alabama and UGA make it look easy because they literally have more talent than anyone. Everytime saban loses he is losing to a less talented team or to a team with the same talent. Saban never has to gameplan for a more talented roster. Uga and bama's depth plays a huge roll as well. A few teams can match up with bama's 1s but no one not even uga can match their 2 deep. While it's not as bad as it used to be with transfer portal, when bama subs a guy out he is being replaced by at least another 4 or 5 star player. Talent matters way more than scheme.

JD had his issues in 2022 but I thought he clearly gave us the best chance to win.

A big factor in looking clueless is the fact the D-line couldn't get pressure on the QB. Ask yourself did Perkins loose a step? No he did not however Maason Smith and the rest of the D-line were stood up and pushed back at the line of scrimmage. They couldn't flush the QB so Perk could run him down. This provided the opposing WR's enough time to get open not to mention LSU's CB's giving the WR's a huge cushion to move at will.

Hopefully Maason is back to form and the CB's aren't all injured for the season. The young players that had opportunity to see the field will be better for it. LSU needs talent before they can be average in the SEC, we'll see how the team develops next season.

Sorry man this is just the wrong take. If they’re over rated why have them?

and we decided to keep playing Savion and Ovie. Neither of which was good against the run and neither could rush the passer.

We also rarely blitzed

Dinardo’s tenure is proof that you don’t know what the hell you’re talking about.

Sounds like you're agreeing, LSU's defense needs talent @ D-line & CB. I'm excited to see how everything unfolds approaching the next season.

Tell me what Savion does better than Womack. shite tell me what Ovie does that Womack can’t?

And you ignore the part where we said “oh well can’t get any pass rush. might as well do nothing about it”

Sammy I'm thinking you're confusing our conversation with something different. I like "WO-MACK" & LSU's defense needs players better than him too. I may have made three post in this thread saying all the same things. A new DC isn't changing the performance of this season's roster. You have to change the ingredients to make a better chicken salad not the Chef!

Enjoy your Christmas.

I don’t disagree that we need better players, but at the same time

1. I think we had better players
on the bench. Ovie, Speights and Jones brought nothing to the defense. I dont think there is any argument for Speights over Weeks, or Ovie over literally any other player at that position. Deciding who plays is a coaching issue.

2. I think there were so few adjustments I question the abilities to coach. Our secondary was bad. So we decided dropping more bad DBs into coverage would work, and never tried anything else when it didn’t.

Amen & amen! I love the offseason as much as the scheduled games. LSU has a lot of work to do, I'm looking forward to see how the team progresses from here.
