Don't need Easton Simpson with has swagger onto campus thinking he can have any number just because he crushed it on the travel ball circuit.

Either that or do away with retiring numbers all together.

Both routes have their merit.

This is the time for LSU to be crystal clear on this jersey number policy.

Don't mess it all up with ambiguity like we have seen in recent events.

I thought it already was?

ETA: I also don't think the jersey policy is uniform (excuse the term) across all sports. Each sport would dictate their own policy.

“LSU” is a university, not an athletic institution. They’re not going to have an official policy on that and it’s going to come down to what the current athletic director and head coaches think is best at the time, which will be inconsistent because those positions change a lot. Get over it, I like how this is the current hot button issue because some Karen sports mom cried about it on behalf of her son

Bertman IS LSU baseball. He is the foundation upon which everything is built. There is not a single player/potential player "bigger" than Skip...and every coach that ever coaches LSU baseball (for the foreseeable future) knows that. Especially Jay Johnson. Even if the number is not formally "retired" (which I think it is), Johnson wouldn't consider allowing, let alone offering, ANY opportunity to wear it. If that were a recruiting sticking point I feel confident Johnson would just stop recruiting that player all together.

The stadium is built because of him. The field is named after him. There is a statue of him outside of the stadium. The road that runs by where the old stadium sat bears his name. There is no gray area here. There is no discussion whatsoever about another #15 on LSU's baseball roster

His fricking number has been retired for years

Ever looked at the centerfield wall?

No one will ever wear 15 or 19 for LSU

You're 25 years behind on this, Bertman's 15 was retired officially under the old policy of true retirement in 2001.

Tired of the same old excuses. The OP makes a salient point. Its been long enough. The man deserves it.

LSU should have a Skip Bertman Game once a year where every LSU player on the field wears #15. Like MLB does for Jackie Robinson Day.

Bertman's 15 is one of the handful of numbers that are, in fact, retired at LSU

RSkip's number was permanently retired(for baseball) in 2001. The current policy was put in place in 2007 and does not apply to previously retired numbers.

LSU should retire the New Box in his honor and build a new stadium.

Painting the 15 yard line with the number 15 gray with pinstripes all year would be a great tiger stadium salute
