I'm just very curious how this is going to work for the lower-end D1 teams that are trying to justify costs for bats for a season, now they have to provide a complex video system and set up cameras at their shite high school fields?

No idea, but it feels like something that, if approved, should be required across the sport because of how much it could affect a game.

yeah it just seems like something that a lot of schools can’t afford.

From the article:
quote:

Obviously, parks must have the required Trackman technology to utilize the ABS system, but it is not a prerequisite that all or a certain number of Division I teams have Trackman tech before next season. It’s worth noting that many Power 4 ballparks have the required technology available.

I liked it during the SEC tournament. I think if anything, it will improve the umpire strikezone accuracy by having data for the office to review and see which umpires need to be let go or held onto each season.

Finally! Some accountability for these terrible umpires.

I also think putting the box up on live TV like MLB does would help a lot as well.

This is fantastic. They are not perfect but they are an improvement.

Zero thought was given with regards to how this change was going to impact the psychological well being of the Rantards who complained incessantly about the strike zone!

Most already have track man set ups.

Not sure your point is valid considering over half of the challenges during the SECT were successful and the umpires call overturned.

And that was with drastic improvement throughout the tournament. The umpires actually got better during games by getting the in game feedback.

I think that's his point. The Rantards won't know how to bitch about it going forward.

But I have faith in their ability to find something.

95% of college teams really invest very little in baseball, and lose a good bit of money on college baseball. That's really a tough ask. I wonder how much it costs to implement this system?

This is going to have the unintended consequence of creating more walks and longer games. College pitchers already struggle with the strike zone. Enforcing it by the book is going to create tighter strike zones.
