Naming the court after a coach with zero titles was embarrassing to begin with

Dale Brown did some great things at LSU, but come on. Name a weight room or a street on campus after him. Save the court for someone who truly deserves it.

Dale Brown lost me trying to sabotage Will Wade’s program. Of course as we found out, Wade could do a great job sabotaging his program by himself.

It's like they thought they needed to name the court after someone and Brown was a good candidate.
But you don't need to name the court after anyone. Leave it unnamed unless someone's accomplishments are so phenomenal that naming the court after him is just obvious.

Is there anything concrete behind this take on dale?
I’m neither a big fan or critic but still appreciate him being the only guy who made LSU a consistent winner over 100 years. My grandfather hated him along with that generation, but I’d kill for that consistency. It’s what made pear so amazing, even if he underachieved at times. I think he’d have won big if the investigations wouldn’t have blocked him from hiring actual assistants and not bag men

I’d honestly just give the naming rights to Shaq. His millions in donations and brand equity far exceed anything other LSU basketball alums and coaches have contributed.

Graduated after 6 years in 83, I know. Dale's team's were talented,lots of fun to watch and won a lot of games but always underachieved in the ncaa tournament. Great recruiter and motivator but less than average game time coach in the ncaa tournament.

Lol. Les Miles Field makes more sense than Dale Brown Court and we all know Les Miles field will never, ever happen. This is Auburn naming their field after Gus Malzahn or Mississippi State naming their court after Rick Stansberry.

Truth be told, their accomplishments were fairly similar...with one notable edge to Gunter.
Dale went to 2 Final Fours, Gunter 1 (even though she was too ill to coach).
Gunter is in the Naismith Hall of Fame. Dale isn't.
Honestly, either both should have their name or neither. I'm not sure how LSU fricked this up.
Actually I do. Good ol boy politics. Pretty simple.

Without Brown there would be no "Shaq". Nor Chris Jackson.
If you want to compare, what LSU basketball prior to Brown. Its like LSU baseball prior to Bertman.
Brown has his flaws and he stayed past his time. But damn, before Dale Brown LSU basketball was nothing.
