This thread absolutely amazes me. If Les would have had another clock management issue this week and lost the game against Bama this thread would have never existed. I agree with you all that Les is a "nicer" guy than Nick but we don't have Nick to be a damn PR machine. We have him to be a great head coach (which he wasn't yesterday ) 90% of the people who have posted in this thread would crawl to Tuscaloosa to pick Saban up if he would come back to BR but yet all the sudden "Les is a better fit for LSU" Give me a MF'ing break.

Likewise people should show respect and not bother them. Two way street.

Most of the stories didn't demonstrate any extreme intrusiveness on the part of the fans. Coaches are well paid. Part of their job is public relations. Part of human decency is courtesy. If you don't recognize that, you're not particularly bright.

Nice story. If I needed an uncle or grandpa I'd choose Miles over Saban.

A guy I know asked Saban to take a picture with him one day after church. Saban eventually gave in and took the picture with him. Saban's face in the picture was priceless. You could tell he was so pissed off it was hilarious.

Apparently your uncle/grandpa can give you a gift of a BCS championship as well.

Maybe, but did that happen?

If LSU wins 10 straight over Little Nicky, will you come back to post after every loss?

If Miles is that shitty, then what does it say that Nick Saban, with higher ranked recruiting classes and supposedly superior coaching, is 2-2 against Les Miles.

Whatever. Miles will be here for awhile, and he'll have more success.

This is directed at you, Rex, but I guarantee you've I've seen more Tiger football and observed the fanbase more than most on this board. I honestly believe Tiger fans suffer from more delusion and idiocy than the norm. Miles is one of the best coaches the Tigers have ever had. That is true by any objective measure. He has a shitty quarterback situation. Nevertheless, the program is in good hands for the long haul.

No 90% of the people would not and you and the rest of Alabama got your fricking break when Saban couldn't cut it in the NFL as a head coach and came back to college...

Funny, the OP didn't post this after the Auburn loss. It would have been much more sincere.

Yes, Les is a great guy who runs a clean program yada yada yada, but he is just not a very smart man and is a deeply flawed football coach....sorry that is the simple truth....

Has a degree in Economics from Michigan. Has the third highest winning percentage of all coaches in the SEC since 1952, behind only Bryant, Spurrier (Florida years), Meyer. Highest winning percentage of any coach in LSU history.

And you think the man isn't very smart? Wow.

Wrong!

DC10 wasn't on the field Saturday. Not close. He got "dominated" by a bunch of geeks on a message board.

Just to be clear.

My first post in this thread but count me in your 10% not crawling to Tuscaloosa to pick up Saban to come back. Even if he was still here, he'd have his share of critics.

lsugumbeaux, I was very irritated when Saban left LSU and then ended up at Bama. In the back of my mind I knew he was doing what he thought was best for his future in going to Miami and then Bama. In time I came to appreciate what Saban did for LSU and bringing LSU back to relevance with a National Title (as I appreciate what Les has done). It's aggravating hearing people disrespect either coach personally (calling them dumb, or assholes, or talking about family members, etc.). I am not talking about personal opinions on coaching decisions. Everybody is entitled to that. Maybe I am kind of cold, but I am not that obsessed if a coach is a hard arse or not. I don't get my feelings hurt that easily. I am friends with and around a bunch of coaches. In fact that's how most every coach I had growing up was. They were hard asses and never apologized for it. I was raised that way by my family as well. I do understand things are different today though. I am not that judgemental and usually find a way to give people the benefit of the doubt. Who knows why people act the way they do? That's why I personally try not to judge if I really don't know somebody. Before we canonize Les and demonize Saban realize that coaches come in all different types. That does not make a Saban or Belichick wrong and a Miles or a Brian Billick/Wade Phillips right. They are doing what works for them. In my opinion it's really not personal. I know you guys don't want to hear this. Everybody has to be a homer for Miles or Saban. I am sure both Coaches have impacted young men in positive ways. Both are good coaches. Both deserve LSU fan's appreciation in my opinion with personal feelings aside about their personality flaws. Just my 2 cents.

One of my passions is fly fishing and fly tying. I also tie the elaborate classic salmon flies for display. I sent DiNardo a Salmon Fly in purple and gold displayed in a handmade shadow box frame. The fly was called Le Bandit chinois (Chinese Bandit). I also sent him a note welcoming him to LSU. DiNardo wrote me a hand-written thank you letter in the locker room before a road game against Texas A&M that I still have today. A buddy of mine called into his call-in show and mentioned that a friend of his gave him a fly in a frame. "Oh yeah!" he said, "I have that hanging in my office!" He invited me to come visit him, but I never had the chance, nor did I want to intrude. Nice guy, though.

I have a brief personal story also to share. Recently my son and I were talking about his favorite coach in high school. I was surprised when he told me who he was. Without getting into too much detail his favorite was a coach that many parents and players did not particularly care for. My son is a multi sport athlete and I thought for sure he would choose this other coach from another sport who many parents and players were very close to. I asked him why he chose the more unpopular coach over the one so many parents/players seemed to love. His answer was straight forward and appropriate for this conversation. His favorite coach was a hard charger and was tough on everybody. He played no favorites and demanded the best effort from all his players. He treated everybody the same and rarely gave compliments. The second coach that the other players/parents liked was very friendly with many players and parents. He often did things in his spare time with these families. He was friendlier with certain players and everybody knew this. He was not mean to anyone, but definitely treated certain players differently. I am telling this real life story to illustrate that even though some of you may not like coaches with that hard arse style there are obviously players that like these types of coaches. My son is one of them. My son does not like to play games and wants to be told what he is doing wrong and how to correct it. He does not particularly care if he has a close personal relationship with his coaches and sees them in his free time. He just wants mutual respect which is what his favorite coach gives to everybody. He likes coaches who have high demands on everybody. Coaches come in all types. Saban and Miles both are effective in getting through to players.
