It was this, which is a refreshing feeling. Kinda weird in a tingly good way.

Got forced on us by the holding penalty. If we start the drive at midfield we have more room for error. An interception or catch and fumble will be on the Clemson side of the field, and a punt forces them to go the length of the field.

We couldn't be as aggressive with the field position we had. The calculation changed to where it was more important to waste clock.

BK did have some flubs last night

Pre halftime BS
He allowed Nussmeier to talk him into going for it. If you watch the replay, Kelly is getting the FG team ready to go on the field, but Nuss won't come out, shaking his head no, motioning to go. After a few seconds of that, Kelly calls the TO, they talk it over, and go for it.

Calling a timeout when we had stopped them on 4th down
I have ZERO problem with that. Our cornerback was out of position and lost, the TO was absolutely the correct move. People are just pissed off because Clemson didn't convert on the dead play.
For the record, we stopped them coming out of the TO anyway.

going ultra conservative to almost cost us the game
It's a catch-22. Nuss was rolling and hitting over 70% of his passes, so that would have kept the clock moving. On the other hand, you do have the lead and want to burn that clock down, to limit their chances to come back.

There were people who were saying last night "hold them here and we have it", and there was still 9 minutes left in the game.

And about running, Durham was making plays. So did Brown. This isn't last year's team, it looks like we can line up and run on people.

Out side of 2019 and CLM going for it on 4th downwith trick plays, LSU is historically conservative on offense. Especially with a defense like the 1 I saw last night

Uh..... Did you not see how GREAT the D was playing? Why would you jeopardize the game with an INT or stupid play call. You are wrong.

It felt so good saying “frick it, Punt. What are they going to do?”

When the defense is playing lights out you’re allowed to play “not to lose”

If this was a shootout I would agree with you.

That’s poor thinking. I watched the Saints, with the Dome Patrol, lose all the really big games doing exactly that. They would dominate the 49ers, then instead of getting a first down and salting the game away, they would try to run clock. Montana would come back out there and drive a stake through their hearts.

Saw Bama do it to us in 2012, too. They could not stop Odell, then we got to the 27 yard line and went conservative. A minute later their RB is dancing in our end zone - Dynasty Established!

Speaking of field position in another way, the LSU punter needs to either improve his "short distance" punting on the + side of the 50 or LSU needs to have a "pooch punter". My God, I don't mind punting from the other team's 40 or 50 but if you are just going to net 20 to 25 yards each time by punting touchbacks, just go for the damn thing on 4th down. The MTSU punter was an improvement on the La Tech punter from last season but he can't pooch punt to save his life...multiple touchbacks which netted only about 20 to 25 yards.

People are downvoting this but this is absolutely right. You may not care because we won, but we had two chances to put the game away and were extremely conservative in those opportunities.

You have to try and get at least 1 first down because again we did not kick the field goal just before half

My only concern is that so many people feel the need to share their concerns after a win like that.

The defense was doing great, but on that last drive Clemson was moving the ball. We should have tried to at least get one 1st down. Giving Clemson two opportunities with two timeouts left is risky.

We called plays that could have gotten a 1st. We just didn’t execute and had to punt.

Could we have been more aggressive? Yes. But BK knew he had a defense that was ready to step up instead of risking a turnover.
