I cant hate but feel that this is all a money grab by the family. I hate I feel that way, but it just looks like that to me and I could be completely wrong.
Greg is going to need a lot of help to make it through life because of this, and I’m sure the financial burden is huge on that family.

I agree that this looks like a money grab opportunity, which is not right. But we’re all imperfect humans and if that was me and my son in that situation, I can’t say I wouldn’t do the same thing no matter how wrong it is. My family’s needs come first, screw everything else. Again, not condoning it, but I do understand from that angle if this is the case, unfortunately.

Best wishes to the Brooks family. LSU still loves you and will financially support you with fundraisers if needed. No need to go to national news and paint LSU in a bad light.

I wish we could go back to the days where we didn't know what every random person believes. There are so many clueless people out there it's disturbing.

at a minimum he probably should have had the surgery in New Orleans

a lot of people go out of state for most complicated surgeries

sad all the way around but for Strahan to act like LSU did not care is ridiculous, they even did a fundraiser for him that was approved by the NCAA

what's the dads real motivation - lost $ from NFL career

Bingo... They lost their meal ticket in Greg Brooks who they expected to make it to the league. Now their next course of action is to sue and get their free ride in that way. Its disgusting for a family to use a kids tumor in order to get money.

greg brooks senior played 2 seasons in the NFL

Also could Greg Brooks even work a cell phone during that time? Perhaps the family looking for their pay day conveniently didnt let Greg know of the times BK reached out and the kid had to take his families word for it.

this media piece is to make the public aware and to put pressure on OLOL and LSU for their lawsuit

everybody involved on both sides knows once the family filed the lawsuit, BK is not allowed to speak to them at all

I figured he was not in a great state, but actually seeing him try to talk and how he's no longer the same person anymore is incredibly heartbreaking. His dad saying Brian Kelly and the coaching staff haven't reached out since 2023 is disappointing, but it's sticky considering the legal being involved. Tough look for LSU, but their hands are also tied.

I’m fairy certain that most anyone put in that situation would do the same. They might not want to admit it, but if that were your son, all bets are off.

The never hearing from your head coach part is pretty questionable

the issues at hand are the way OLOL handled this, the way LSU handled this, the qualifications of the surgeon, the actions of the surgical team during the procedure, the actions of the recovery team after the procedure

so there are several layers to this and I am certain GBJ and his family will eventually get at least an 8 figure settlement

Strahan, his daughter and GMA are doing the Brooks family a solid and helping them out in their case.

this is personal for the Strahans when you see his daughter is an example of everything going right in an identical case to GBJ.

I hope GBJ gets a huge settlement and recovers as much as possible, this a terrible situation for him but I hope he has a positive outcome

Nothing about the way that story was produced or presented makes me inclined to believe it.

2 seasons in the NFL as a 6th round draft pick in the early 2000's for one of the cheapest franchises in the NFL in Cincinnati. Using his neck tattoos as a road map of his ability to make intelligent financial decisions, he probably blew through that money in 6 months.

Why because he got dealt a really shitty hand, so let some one else pay for it?

Understanding and agreeing are not the same thing.

I understand why they are doing it, They were dealt a crappy hand and are trying to figure out a way to move forward. It's not hard to see why they may go the lawsuit route, especially if someone was egging that one. They probably just don't know where to turn.

As for agreeing, I do not have enough information. Part of what was said is not a basis for anything, the family not knowing because the school did not tell them anything is a nonstarter because Greg is an adult and they are not obligated to tell them anything and may be prohibited from sharing certain info unless directed to do so by Greg. The only thing I heard that gave me pause was that the surgery seemed rushed and probably should have been done elsewhere if the surgeon had never done that sort of surgery before. I suspect that is what the basis of the suit is.

Cancer in young adults is rare. 4% in all diagnosed cancers. Cancer in athletes is even more so. You can't put this on LSUs trainers. They don't diagnose cancer. They start with the most likely and go the the next most likely.

Its a bad look if BK never called. Unless he was told he cannot after the suit was filed.

looks like his contract was for about a million almost 20 years ago. Not much if any of that is still in their pockets.

It’s a national television segment and the father of a former player mentions BK by name stating he didn’t reach out to his son to even offer words of encouragement.

And the father is a shitbag for that.

I'm extremely Sad, and sympathetic for Greg Brooks and his family. it's a terrible situation.
However, LSU did not give him a brain tumor.
He his tumor was very likely discovered much faster because he was an athlete than it would have been for your average college kid.
