How much money was brought into LSU via donations from fans and alumni after KM won the natty. How many out of state students came to the school because of the national pub we got during that championship run.You couldn’t afford that kind of publicity.Small minded people think small minded things.Every body gasped when ALABAMA paid NS over 9 mil a year but he brought in 100s of millions through his success. I don’t know the numbers but believe me KMs NC has baught LSU much more money than you think.

Mulkey's trying to prepare for a championship run and our goofy, dumbarse fan base spreading rumors like some school-age kids.

Question: How much is great publicity worth from this program? My guess is a hell of a lot more than the cost and that includes KM and her staffs salaries. :spank:

It’s a marketing expense! All of that is about to change tho! WBB is going to be profitable in the near future!

Not as much as she used to. She has said that adding Bob Starkey has kept her going longer because he is willing to do the grunt work of deep scouting reports, making less work for her.

She also has grandkids that she dearly adores.

That said, I don't think she is about to hang it up right now, but nothing would shock me.

I would feel a lot better about Kim returning if we could get some new assistants announced soon.

fricking lol.

Women's basketball- which loses money due to the fact that its tv deal isnt valuable (which isn't valuable due to lack of viewers) is a comparable investment to the one Bama made with Saban who coached in the sport that so many people watch it props up the entire athletic program. Makes sense.

So many people watched the women's basketball natty and decided to come to LSU because of it! We cant afford that publicity! Lol. Jesus Christ.

The people who actually know the numbers are about to show you how affordable it was.

Hey AH you’re obviously a negative person. No it doesn’t compare money wise to ALA ,it’s about the positive impact KM has had at LSU in many areas.I understand you are too myopic to get it.You must have gone to Southern.

OK ok i'll bring it down and respond seriously.

She took a program no one cared about and put asses in the seats. I've heard people I know talking about women's basketball that I've never heard talking about it before. She 100% moved the needle big time in a positive direction. All true.

What is also true is that all of those people I would imagine were already LSU fans. I am simply pointing out that nationally it is a sport that very few watch so the idea that enough out of state students would watch the publicity our women's basketball team got and make their decisions on that - despite the pub our football team already gets, is laughable. Its something you have to tell yourself to cope with the fact that it is a sinkhole for money.

The difference in profit and losses these days is all about the TV contracts. Football is king, men's basketball is #2. NIL is making the cost of both go up. Eventually we will hit a spending limit. It is only good business to invest in the sports we get a return on, and putting the men's team on TV in March will return way more than the women's team winning the natty. Thats just a simple fact.

Beef, Why don't you give your expert opinion to Uconn? None of their sports are profitable, not FB, not MBB, not WBB, which won multiple nattys. All of their sports operate at a loss every year: FB -$16 million loss. MBB -$11 million loss. WBB -$4 million loss. Their AD has -$56 million loss. The university subsidizes all of their sports. So your logic is Uconn should just give up all of their sports right? Don't think small, think bigger picture, Uconn sports generates almost $300 million economic impact for their small state.
LSU AD's have said this same thing, the positive economic impact by LSU WBB since Mulkey arrived. That's big reason why Mulkey came to LSU, to help the state of Louisiana. LSU sports generates $1.5 billion economic impact for BR and state of Louisiana. All the other Louisiana colleges' sports are operating in the red. Mulkey is playing those teams to help Louisiana's economy. Our family went to one LSU WBB game, we're from out of state, spent 3-days in BR, and spent $$ for the game, merchandise, hotel, rental car, gas, restaurants, etc. And spent 1-day in New Orleans. Tell me that's not a ROI for WBB?

You can’t get a ticket to a women’s basketball game since Kim stepped foot on campus.

I was told by someone who knows her well that this was possibly her last year. She is very egotistical so I can see her announcing then coaching one more year so she can have her retirement tour and be recognized everywhere.

could not have said it better. bravo. this is why I started a thread on this. small minded thinking people. The crazy thing is, its not their money and you can have both Men's Basketball and Women's basketball be great.

Skeletor will retire when she wants. Aside from Dawn Staley, she is the best WBB coach.

Has nobody seen this response about retirement/age she gave the other day? She sounds nowhere near retirement.
