I hear you but they will never win the National Championship if they don't play smart and hit their free throws (also must protect the ball). You practice the smart way so that when you really need to keep the tight lead in an important game (I know they are all important) or need those extra possessions (referring to closing out periods). You don't have to say "What am I suppose to do? Instead you automatically do the right thing.

Another mentioned: "What if you don't shoot?" Well, first you should have taken a shot (play started with 10 seconds to go) and second even if shot wasn't taken you've burned 30 seconds and have reduced the game to under 30 seconds with a 4 point lead.

Unless you have a 100% (must be made) layup...you should have burned the clock.

I've seen so many layups missed this year.

But it didn't burn clock and create a foul. What would have happened if she missed? Time and control was overall more important than shooting the ball. You have a lead and want to burn clock and expand the lead.

If you have watched many of the LSU women games, you see a pattern. If they are to win it all they MUST play smarter at the end of periods. :usa: :usa:

Maybe I'm not be clear. I'm not talking about the overall play of the 4th quarter in last night's game. I'm talking about the way we continue to play in the last one to two minutes of games. If you have a lead of several points in a game, you do not take crazy shots but instead burn clock and make them foul you. Last night was a perfect example, 4 point lead with less than a minute to go. Why would you risk a shot when you can hold the ball and burn clock? They will have to foul you, which is a higher percentage shot.

I'm not even going to talk about taking the last shot of a quarter (throw shot and allowing team to get a shot). :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

"Well it was actually the opposite way this time. We closed the game strong. But played like shite the other three quarters."

I was talking about playing smart (not closing strong). You have a 4 & 6 point lead with less than a minute, do you drive for a layup or burn clock until you are fouled? You have your best free throw shooters handling the ball... be smart...that's what I'm saying...the clock is your friend.

LSU can't win the National Championship unless they play smart, hit free throws and protect the ball (not get out of control). :usa: :usa: :usa:

I'm happy LSU won but I hate (and I mean HATE) the way we close games. We DO NOT play smart basketball. People understanding the game will know what I mean.

I'm proud of the increase in defensive intensity in the 4th quarter...we played like crap up until then.

Williams had a bad game...needed Fulwily's speed and defense. :usa: :usa: :usa:
When I was in High School (back in the day), the basketball team would have to hit X number of free throws in a row before the team could leave practice. In addition, the hoop was reduced in size by something they placed on it. Those teams had the longest winning streak in Florida High School history. The tallest player starting was 6'2" (they were called the Marvelous Midgets). They played smart basketball, low turnovers, hit free throws, and great defense. :usa: :usa: :usa:
I'm not convinced that it's all mental.

LSU has the capability to win the National Championship but first must learn how to close out games. You're down 3 points with approximately 27 seconds to go, why are you taking a 25 jumper instead of driving to the paint to draw a foul when you're in the bonus? You hit your free throws then foul their worst free throw shooter or at least make them hit their free throws.

To win the big (and little) close games, LSU must hit free throws and be smart with the ball.

This was a game LSU should have won. It showed me they can beat anybody. Protect the ball (low turnovers), hit free throws (a must) and play smart at the end.

On a side note: If Jada hits her normal shots we win. I love Hines...she shows a lot of heart. :usa: :usa: :usa:
A tip of the cap to Texas. They obviously understood our offensive scheme and played defense against it to perfection.

LSU must PROTECT THE BALL, hit free throws, and make better decisions on the court (some got away from the team game and tried to make things happen themselves). Several times we saw terrible shot selection or passing decisions (they overplayed us but we shot a 25 foot jumper instead of us back dooring them). It was a lesson...SC will do the same on the defensive end. We must play smart on offense and be aggressive on defense. :usa: :usa: :usa:

I have always liked watching the women play (since the 60's). The reason , I think, is I personally like women that are athletic and passionate. I like to see confident, independent women show passion in whatever they do. I 'm attracted to highly intelligent women with passion and a drive to succeed (most men are afraid of these type women). The women are not as physically gifted as men but the passion and competitiveness in the elite athletes is the same. :usa: :usa:
Ran across this related to LSU Women's basketball recruiting...thought it was interesting. Anyone know anything about her?

The reality that they still keep winning?

2021-2022 26-6 (13-3), 2nd in the SEC, NCAA 2nd Round
2022-2023 34-2 (15-1), 2nd in the SEC, National Champions
2023-2024 31-6 (13-3), 2nd in the SEC, Elite Eight
2024-2025 31-6 (12-4), 3rd in the SEC, Elite Eight

Some people just want to complain about something, I guess.

LSU is very capable of winning the National Championship this year. Because of the great depth on the team, the key will be hitting our free throws in the close games. We have the talent and depth...just hit the free throws. :spank: :spank: :spank: :usa: :usa: :usa:

Okay....Based on what you stated, I interpreted you to say the contract is signed and they (LSU) are letting LK decide when to announce. :usa: :usa: :usa: :usa:
I agree Koval is a good addition based on the film I just saw. Hope Smith returns...she really had just started to show her old self.
It'll help eliminate the anti-gay thing.
I remember seeing him on TV (Back then you didn't see many NBA games on TV.). He was a tremendous power forward that had a great jump shot and was very, very good at rebounding (very physical). Loved his game. :usa: :usa: :usa:
Many years ago, LSU had an Australian connection.
No one has mentioned Kent. Based on what I've seen, she's very athletic but needs to work on being more under control. Didn't see enough to know her shooting skills.

On a side note, the girl that played center for Iowa really improved a lot from last year.
I have followed women's basketball for a long time...more so now. The guy in this video hits what's really going on perfectly. It's a must see!!! LINK

Listen to the first few minutes if you think it's too long.
