Spot on. It’s been ruined.

I check the scores and will always root for LSU but the days of getting excited about recruits committing 9 months ahead in advance and feeling so deeply emotionally invested in the outcome are definitely over now.

I now only see early commits as negotiating plays to drive up the price and I have no doubt that the majority of players on any given schools roster would change sides in a heartbeat for $100 dollars more than their current school is paying.

Gone is the illusion that any of these kids really care about good old state U.

It’s pro sports with no guardrails

Man, frick lawyers

Listening to that sounds like with a completely useless NCAA, players run the asylum because what happens is they’ll just sue now if any restrictions are put in place on their “free agency”.

We've reached a sad place.
frick those people too. Would have to take a pretty selfish person to defend the selfishness of the college sports world today.

The players who hit the portal all the time are the people who would be benchwarmers and depth pieces in the old NCAA
bullshite. Lots of starters enter the portal every year. HVL entered the portal 2 consecutive years after being a starter. One school, I think Robert Morris, had their entire MBB starting 5 enter the portal this year. You had football players who were starters that were playing well and demanded more NIL from their schools and left their teams by week 4 to maintain a redshirt season and transfer.

Starters at smaller programs constantly transferring for bigger paydays at programs with deeper pockets. Sad thing for those schools is they will never be the type of program that is going to land 4 and 5 star recruits. Their only shot to be good is to get 1 and 2 star guys and coach them up and develop them, which takes a couple of seasons to really succeed. But by the time the results show up, some big school poaches them away. Look at the graphic that was floating around for the elite 8 teams with what school their starting 5 began their college career at. 75% of the players didn’t start their college careers at their current schools. That doesn’t bode well for mid majors being able to compete

I wonder how much of her frustration stems from her teams underachieving on paper. Perhaps she should clean up her team building practices & on-court coaching.

Individually, how many women’s teams had a more talented big 3 than Morrow, Fla’jue & Williams?

The team was even more talented last year with the same 3 + Angel & Van Lith

These are all great players but Mulkey has failed to mesh these into great teams. Both of these teams should waltz into the final 4 on paper but they look like jumbled, hot arse when the completion ramps up.

They want their reparations. It is sickening. Make no mistake, everything they touch turns to shite. Look at all the inner cities now. Look across the country at the once nice neighborhoods. Give them an inch, they will take a mile, until there is nothing left. Everything about collegiate sports has changed, by far for the worse. I know I'm not the only one that has lost a LOT for college athletics over the last several years. I had already quit pro sports on all the Floyd absolute bs, black lives matter shite. At least we still had college. Well, that is going down too. As people continue to lose passion over the state of collegiate sports, it is only a matter of time before they completely destroy it. Players used to announce their school in big playoff games. Now, it'll be, johnny turncoat, University of Florida/University of Alabama/LSU.

look man im as conservative as they come but this is bullshite

bottom line is the courts ruled the ncaa doesnt have the ability to tell a student athlete they can not receive money for NIL because they dont tell regular students that and they are supposed to be the same. same with transfer portal.

has nothing to do with the democrats and if you actually think critically on this its more of a conservative approach in embracing freedom and free markets.

tigre704: check your votes, your in the minority. Nil and unlimited transfers are hurting college “team” sports. It has produced more parity, the only positive but at a huge expense. There is no longer a team, only me, me, me which will impact their lives for ever. New rules must evolve quick or the fans need to stop watching.

Hoping we are headed toward multi-year contracts when schools start paying players directly with rev share

3 year contract, fully guaranteed, backloaded where most of the money comes junior year.

Mutual option for year 4 so schools can cut bait, or players can find a new school for their senior season if it isn’t working out.

That’s the closest you can get to the traditional model imo.

I’ll never understand why she gets such a pass with yet another team with zero depth and lack of development of players. Glad she is our Coach but she shouldn’t be above criticism

I’ll never blame players for capitalizing on NIL. Most players will never go professional so go ahead and make your money. It’s certainly not their fault, it’s the lack of an effective governing body to initiate some common sense rules. I absolutely detest what college sports has become and not nearly emotionally invested.

There were only two teams that could have beaten LSU last year in the tournament, South Carolina and Iowa. It just so happened we had a bad draw with Iowa in the Elite Eight.

What about the year we won the Championship? We were a 3 seed. So, according to your "on paper", we should not have even made the elite eight, much less won the whole thing.

Works both ways, partner.

You think Dawn should be barely winning her games in the tourney this year with what 10 Mcdonald All Americans? She has more mcdonald all american's on her bench than LSU and other teams have on their starting five.

That year was obviously spectacular. It seems as Mulkey has introduced new “Star” transfers to her roster, there have been issues with cohesion & gameflow.

The 2023 had great role players and it worked. She can pull whoever she wants in the portal but seems to be enamored with adding multiple stars every year.

Gilbert was a complete flop and she’ll prob ice Jada Richard to play that bum, sadly.

I agree that Jada needs to play more. I still think she's a year away from really making a difference.

C’mon…this team made the elite eight and was close to making final four with a good shooting night. It didn’t happen but this year was still successful!

She was not.

Averaged around 9 points per game and often was LSU's main scoring threat off the bench. She struggled late, but overall she was a net positive for the year.
