Like it or not, Beth isn't going anywhere. Realistically there are only a handful of coaches in the country that are an upgrade over Beth, and most of them are not coming to Baton Rouge for any amount of money, their deals are too sweet already. I repeat, Patty Gasso will NOT come to LSU for any amount of money.

The real issue is getting the right talent in Tiger Park.

There are some holes to fill in the lineup, and the freshman class can fill some of them but we need to get in the portal to fill a few needs.

First of all, we need a legit pitcher to add to the mix. One of our big problems this year was that Ali Kilponen was not a Friday night starter and we had to rely on a freshman for that. The staff has a lot of potential but we don't have a stopper on the team. We should be throwing lots of NIL money at someone like Kayla Beaver from Central Arkansas or rumor has it that Maddie Penta from Auburn is soon to hit the portal. Maddie Penta would give us a World Series run opportunity.

As far as the lineup goes: Coffey, Briggs, Pleasants, Newland and Redoutey should be penciled in the lineup everyday. We need to hit the portal to find a thumping first baseman to add some pop, I suggest Bri Ellis from Auburn (over 1.000 OPS last year, 14 homeruns, 40+ rbi). We will get Hannah Carson back next year which will be a big upgrade and will allow Newland to go back to left field. The only holes left to fill are at DP and 2B. I like Karli Petty but she doesn't get the job done (.765 OPS is not good enough), maybe fill 2B and DP with another portal pick up or maybe one of our super freshmen coming in.

If you make those moves, everybody will be singing Beth Torina's praises next year.

It’s all about the pitchers and power hitters. We need better quality of both. Everyone else is a nice secondary piece.

I agree. I thought this team was one of the more talented teams Beth has had over the past few years. At least hitting wise, which is odd.

Why do people always say this when one of our head coaches is on the hot seat? There’s not many better than Miles out there. There’s not many better than Mainieri out there. Etc etc.

I wouldn’t say that Kilponen wasn’t a Friday starter, but she wasn’t the kind of ace who could take a team on her back and carry them. I agree if they can get a pitcher like Penta in the portal they should do so. I just think this is a similar situation to the coaching job. There are a limited number of pitchers who would be an upgrade and even fewer who would consider LSU an upgrade over their current situation.

Torina just got Petty from the portal, so I doubt she’s looking for an upgrade there. She slumped late in the year, but overall she was decent contributor on offense and very solid at 2B. I haven’t looked but I wouldn’t imagine there are realistic options out there that would be an improvement.

They absolutely need to go out and find a slugger for 1B/DP, perhaps two. That should be the primary focus in the portal. Torina showed a willingness to go that route last offseason, so I am hopeful she’ll do so again.

I am replying to your message TGRSCT but it is mot intended for you

I hope we go forward with Beth and the usual pitiful following by the bandwagon fans.

LSUMAN25 works his arse off doing PBP for every game except one or two the whole season and nothing but crickets from the bandwagoners.

But let the tesm lose and now every moron thinks they're huge softball fans and know exactly what needs to be done to make the team better. YOU DON'T.

So go back to not caring about women's sports and softball

It’s known, if Woody wants you, he gets you. He’s done this before and will do it again. aTm, UDub or LSU, the guy gets who he wants.

I have no dog in this fight, but facts are facts.

The difference is that LSU had 6 national titles in baseball and 4 in football. The pool of candidates that would view either as a more desirable job than their current position is significantly larger.

Conference only: Second in batting average, 7th in scoring, tied for last in home runs.

Could get them on, but couldn’t hit when it mattered.

With the returning players and new recruits and transfer catcher, this roster will be loaded for next year.

The pitching will be great.

I think ULL takes Washington, we did not lose to a bad team this past weekend. It's BS that we had what should've been a host team in our regional. All of that said, it is disappointing that this group couldn't go farther. Next year's squad should absolutely be loaded (as much as I hate to say "next year").

The lefty pitcher is a 2024 grad, she is not in this incoming recruiting class, we have to wait a year on her.

They can't execute a pitch out in an elimination game. They're no where close.

Love Beth and I have been a big supporter but its okay to admit there are significant issues.

IMO if Beth is serious about getting the program back on track and over the hump, she needs to shake up her assistants this offseason. The last few years we heard we were young. She said last year they would use it to not be in that position again, well they left regionals again.

We always play the should have, could have, would have game, but the reality is as we progress further and further from the Hoover and Walljasper era, the post season success is continuing to get worse.

LSU is 1-6 in their last 7 super regional games since that duo left, and now we have progressed to two straight seasons where we did not advance to supers. We are finishing middle of the pack in the SEC still and not even in contention for a SEC title.

People say we have a lot of talent next year, well we have had a lot of talent the last 3 or so years as well, but the changes needed to get to the next level starts at the top. I hope Beth makes the changes necessary this offseason, if not after next season, things are tough looking for her with Briggs, Pleasants, Coffey, Newland running out of eligibility and OU/Texas enter the SEC
