The coach at Ark turned that program around. In 2 years Ark has become relevant. If Beth is going to stay the LSU Coach in the future, she needs to get some mentoring from Mulkey. She’s turned away too many of the die hard SB fans. She’s isolated the team from the fans. She needs to upgrade her asst coaches esp. bring new blood to up our hitting . We lacked hitting at the most critical times. Beth needs to get off her behind & hit the road recruiting instead of sending Leftwich to recruit for her! Also, it would help if she’d bring a little more energy to her role as HC.

Middle of the pack year after year is just not good enough. She has never won the SEC reg season; the SEC tourney; SEC COY much less Nat’l COY & it was embarrassing last Sunday to lose 2 consecutive games to ULL in Tiger Park.

I would hope WOODARD would not view mediocrity as acceptable. We have a beautiful stadium. We have every training technology available & a beautiful training facility with an enclosed infield…& we can’t beat ULL one out of two games? Something has to change.

I have been following Softball Since yvette girouard was here. If you can’t see that this team regressed over the season then that just means you didn’t watch. It is time to make change, period. Over the last 5 seasons we have gotten worse as the season progresses. Either Beth gets a new staff or we get a new coach I am fine either way

If Beth has to go, we need to knock on Alyson Habetz’s door again. I know she turned down LSU after Pat Murphy changed his mind but maybe this time she might be willing to move back home.

Will you explain what this is about?

I hope Beth makes the changes necessary this offseason, if not after next season, things are tough looking for her with Briggs, Pleasants, Coffey, Newland running out of eligibility and OU/Texas enter the SEC

Okay. I was mistaken. I thought OU and Texas were coming aboard next season since it will be 2024, but they will not enter until the 2024-2025 athletic year. My guess is, Scott’s approach is to observe next season and if no improvement his rationale will be “Beth, I have to let you go. No progress and now Oklahoma and Texas are in the SEC …”

Courtney Diefel at Arkansas has been the coach there for 8 years, has never been to the college World Series and got beat in her own regional this year.

Yeah she is WAY better than Beth

If we’re loaded next year we should have been loaded this year. Majority of this year players coming back. We got nothing from the bench this year.

You lost the catcher and had to start a true freshman that struggled.

Then there is the number 6 recruiting class that will add depth

IMO if Beth is serious about getting the program back on track and over the hump, she needs to shake up her assistants this offseason

This 100%. Stop the "family crap" and upgrade the Assistants.. It's wayyyyy past time, this is a business, not a charitable organization.

Every class been ranked high. Something is wrong can Beth fix it? Same players same results. No improvement.

You have to admit that the old saying “The definition of insanity is doing things the same way and expecting different results” applies to LSU softball and this coaching staff.

But who knows? Rather than immediate firings, you may be hearing in the next couple weeks, “Lindsey Leftwich is leaving for a wonderful opportunity in retail sales” and “Howard Dobson has taken the job of hitting coach at Podunk State University to be closer to family. We wish them both well and thank them for their service to LSU softball.”

Agree...remember Nikki Fargas? She had all the chance in the world to make it but she failed miserably after 10 years and resigned (wink, wink). Uh, let's call it what it was! She was forced out.
And how did that work out for us?

It's softball. Very few people care.

We're talking about a program that has an average annual attendance of about 50,000 to 60,000 fans.

That does not move the needle when it comes to making business decisions.

Woodward is the Athletics Director. Not big sports director. I’m sure he cares about all of them and wants to be the best at everything. If not then he’s not doing his job.

Yes, he cares about them all, but he also has a budget to uphold. The amount of money it would require to hire a replacement that would represent an upgrade more than likely is beyond budgetary constraints.

With the returning players and new recruits and transfer catcher, this roster will be loaded for next year. The pitching will be great.

Berzon will not be able to pitch every game. Kilponen pitched very well in some big games down the stretch including wins against ALabama, Georgia and at the Cajuns. I don’t believe Chaffin will be able to fill those shoes. To say pitching will be “great” is a stretch.

Torina is not "failing miserably". Her team went 42-17 and was the 10th seed in the tournament.

Mulkey was a complete outlier. That perfect storm may never happen again to any school in any sport. That doesn't exist for softball. There isn't a "Mulkey" waiting in the wings.
