Did she get charged with anything? Seems insane if she wasn't.

It didn't allow him access to a firearm.
It didn't cause him to bring that firearm to school.
It didn't cause him to shoot his teacher.
It didn't cause him to angrily shout "frick you" to every adult in the room both collectively and individually.

Those are learned behaviors from his parent(s), family and community.

Okay. Let's hear one.

Funny, gross, or sad?

Well, the funny and gross one is sort of the same story.

ETA: I told the gun story so I guess I'll tell the gross one.

A kid and a girl figured out the gym schedule and determined what time of year the boys PE classes would be outside for activities, leaving the gym empty for 30 minutes or so at a time. They would sneak into the stairwell to hook up during that window. The guy apparently told the girl it would be their secret which, of course, was a lie and he told quite a few folks what was going on. We ended up getting wind of this and they started tracking them on the cameras. Sure enough, they would both leave their classrooms to "go to the bathroom" and snuck into the gym. Now, you can't just roll up on some kids you think are having sex by yourself because it would be very easy for the kids to claim you watched or made weird comments or some other means to shift the conversation, so you go with at least one other person. In this case, it was a principal, the janitor and the SRO (why the janitor, who knows, but his day was about to get worse).

The trio enters the gym and walks to the stairwell where this girl is going to town on this boy and the principal calls out to them that they are caught and to stop immediately. Unfortunately, the boy was a bit too close to launch for the mission to be aborted and the walls got sprayed while all 5 are in an awkward and humiliating state of shock.

Come to find out, the girl had a diagnosis of emotionally disturbed that manifested as depression. The argument was made in the manifestation hearing (the meeting that happens to determine if the behavior was related to the exceptionality) that sexual activity releases feel good endorphins and therefore, this was an act of alleviation of depressive symptoms. The guy? He wasn't sped and got shipped out to the alternative campus. She was back relatively quickly.

I walked into the conference room with the kid, his mom, the sped directors, the superintendent, the principal and the regular teacher. I said "I'll be very direct with all of you, little timmy is an 17 year old that weighs 285 lbs. When he hit me, it put me at great risk of serious injury. If you all decide to put him back in my classroom and I feel my safety is in danger at any point in time, I will treat him as an immeidate threat and will defend myself to the fullest extent possible."

And I walked out. Looking back on things, I wish I would've pressed charges and sued but I was young and dumb then.

In the not too distant future all females and anyone under the age of 16 will not be held accountable for anything they do because they can't be held responsible for hormones, ADHD, ear aches, sore throats, aches and pains from the flu, etc.

Shame on us for feeling any different.

Did they put him back in class? How did that go?

Yes and no. They didn't change him on our roster but instead of physically putting him in class, he got to sit in the guidance office and basically do worksheets everyday and they called that "English 1." It ended up being what he wanted which was to be able to be lazy. He basically would "flash out" any time he didn't want to do work because he knew it would get him out of class but you could make something about the interaction related to his exceptionality and he effectively couldn't be punished.

He was classified as ODD which is
quote:

Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD) is a mental health condition defined by a persistent, ongoing pattern (lasting at least six months) of angry or irritable moods, argumentative or defiant behavior, and vindictiveness directed toward authority figures
Essentially anything you did as the teacher in class could be considered an authority figure triggering his exceptionality and they'd send you to training because you "aren't meeting expectations relative to knowledge and compliance with an IEP BIP (behavior intervention plan). Basically, you're the problem.

So do I, and thousands if not millions have ADHD but most of us never shot our teacher nor took a gun to do it with.

My son is 6. He’s never even heard half the words that kid was saying (whore, n-word, etc.). But sure, it’s ADHD.

I was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of four. I can tell you that from the time I was in kindergarten to the time I graduated from college, I never once entertained the thought of bringing a gun to school and shooting a teacher/professor.
