Just a little debate we having up here at work, early in the morning.

We are thinking it is a close tie between Albert Belle and Alvin Dark. Dark played three more years than Belle and their batting averages are pretty close. Belle has a lot of player awards (more all stars, hitting titles, etc), but Dark has two WS rings (one as a player, one as a manager). Belle has zero.

Is there anyone we are forgetting about?

Joe Adcock would have to be in discussion.

I had never heard of Joe Adcock. I just looked him up, he was a beast.

Everyone else's careers listed in this thread (other than maybe Paul Byrd) were good, but not compared to Dark, Belle, Adcock, and Byrd.

I would say Odge had a better career then McDonald.

Why because he was picked first overall in the mlb draft like Jamarcus was in the NFL draft?? Really bad comparison there....

Pitching Wise all these guys hung around a while in the majors:

Paul Byrd
Chad Ogea
Curt Lescanick
Mike Sirotka
Brian Wilson
Russ Springer

Position Players
Ryan Theriot
Todd Walker
Albert Belle
Jeff reboulet
Aaron Hill
Brad Hawpe
DJ Lemahieu

Now none of those guys were studs other than Belle, but all of them had long successful careers. I'm sure I'm missing a good many guys

Soon to be in that category:
Gausman
Ranaudo
Nola
Bregman

I'd like to think Ranaudo belongs on the future list, but I'm not sure he will. I hope I'm wrong.

Alvin Dark won nearly 1,000 games as a manager, he was the among, if not the first manager to win pennants in both leagues.

He likely would have had other managerial opportunities and a shot at Cooperstown if it wasn't for his comments about black players.

why are people saying bryan wilson? he was good for like 2 seasons, only got that much exposure cause we was missing a few screws and was on one of the best teams in the league.

I compare him to John Rocker
