Hayes is the best point guard we have. There is enough data from this season to prove it. Even Miller is a better point guard than Hill or Juice Will so no he didn’t have to play Hill all game he just doesn’t know what he’s doing.

I'm calling my shot, the next shiny excuse was the McMahon couldn't get anyone in the off-season cuz of looming sanctions and the negativity around the program cuz of Wads

mean how can anyone disagree and say that our guards would be good shooters if a different person stood fifty feet away

It’s because LSU’s offensive structure and approach is fricking awful.

Every half court set starts with 4 on the baseline. About 65% no one is quite sure who or when someone is supposed to set a ball screen. Sometimes no one sets one until the shot clock is down to 12. Sometimes two people try to set the same aimless screen. Either way, it generally just results in there being 10 seconds in the shot clock and LSU no closer to getting into some kind of offense than they were 15 seconds before. So the guards, who have been dribbling for 15 seconds, end up having to jack up a long shot just to beat the shot clock.

McMahon’s offense is just horrible. Everyone talked about Wade’s street ball (which was a joke), but this looks not that far off from crap you see at any YMCA on a Thursday night.

Kent Lowe would start at PG on this team if he had any eligibility left.

And these people blowing Wade don't seem to understand that we are in this position BECAUSE of him! He was doing what everyone else was doing, but he was very sloppy. And he was stupid enough to continue doing it after the first sign of trouble popped up 3-4 years ago.

This group of players deserve not to be in d1 ball, they are JUCO at best.

It’s February and the football team has more wins than the basketball team this calendar year, and McMahon will have to go charmin soft on the non conference schedule again to even have a prayer of taking the lead before 1/1/24.

Let that sink in.

You’re probably giving Kent too much credit. I don’t think he’d have the stamina to execute McMahon’s was 3/4 of the shot clock before someone sets a random, purposeless screen offense.

So, it appears McMahon may not be a very skilled recruiter.

I think it’s possible many more fans will think he brings no strengths to the table as a head coach after next season if there’s little or no improvement.

For the eleventy billionth time, we are in a different era, and it's also basketball, which means putting a team together in a short amount of time isn't the monumental task you make it out to be. There is enough talent, on paper, for this team to have been close to .500 in league play. Nothing crazy, just competitive. Well, this isn't competitive.

And I will say again, the signs were there all throughout pre-conference play. But people were telling myself, and others, that we were just being hypercritical and couldn't see through our "negativity" that LSU was a team that "just knows how to win, and does what it takes". That logic never passed the smell test, given the woeful schedule they were playing. Now, suddenly the script has flipped to "what did you expect? He had no players."

So even when we're right, we're still wrong, huh? This team should have been better, but they are not, and that's the bottom line. Revising preseason expectations now that we all see how this season has turned out is not how this works. I don't know anyone who thought it would go this badly before the season. After watching them struggle through the worst pre-conference schedule I can ever remember, it was evident to me that we were not good at all. And that is an indictment on the coaching staff, whether anyone likes it or not.

I agree. Going tooth and nail with UT Arlington, Wofford, Arkansas State, ETSU, etc. should have been enough proof SEC play was going to be abysmal.

Didn't have draconian sanctions hanging over his head like McMahon did when hired.

McMahons ineptitude will be blamed on Wade even after Wade is coaching elsewhere in the NCAA tournament!!

He signed the #25 class in the country. How does that mean he has no talent?

It’s not about the players. The coach clearly sucks. His attitude screams bottom of the SEC and fill-in coach while LSU tries to appease the NCAA

This would be a legit reason before all the NIL and transfer portal changes. With players being able to transfer without penalty, building a talented roster from scratch is not the feat it once was. He brought over his 2-3 best players from his team at Murry St., got a healthy Adam Miller, retained one of the best young players in Justice Williams, added several decent role players from the portal and had a top 25 recruiting class. No matter the timeframe or how he had to do it, he built a talented roster. He just hasn't done anything with it.

I'm not saying they should be competing for the SEC title, but they should be much more competitive than they are and definitely shouldn't be on a 10 game losing streak. To me, it is a product of poor in game coaching.
