Correct, and neither do you. Your definition of "prove" is conjuring up random numbers and adding them together.

My assumptions are not any bigger than your assumptions.

If anything your salary payment assumptions make your theory drastically less likely. Current head coach at KU makes $1.7mm...

So basically you can't prove that LSU needed to pay Les Miles 1.5mm?

I can prove it the same way you can prove LSU didn't "NEED" to pay Miles $1.5 million to settle the contract.

Neither of us knows what the Kansas salary offer would have been if LSU continued to pay Les his full LSU salary for 4 more years. And we'll probably never know.

I agree with the substance of yours and most of the posts. I think this is a positive for both Miles and LSU.

But I was wondering if Miles still has the same agent as he did previously?

WTF?? Kansas knows what Les is receiving from LSU. That's public information.

If Miles gets the Kansas job which is being reported as likely, What he did to LSU in his negotiations is highly unethical. If he knew he had the Kansas job locked, he just knowingly screwed LSU out of another $1.5 Mil.

I disagree.

I don't think it's unethical in the least bit. And, Miles could always have simply decided not to work and taken the money. That's what Miles gave up.

LSU is THRILLED with this settlement.

Current unknown/unprovable debate aside...

What are the chances someone didn't write a "good faith" clause related to salary, e.g., preventing him from taking a coaching job for $1.

I understand Charlie Strong did it but the UFC coach before him had a much lower salary, possibly making his power move easier to accomplish.

We still bashing Les for accepting money from the people in charge of LSU Athletics?

Y'all's beef is with the board and Joe Alleva. Not the guy that was owed money from a contract he was offered.

I agree. I think that Les is a recognized coach, and by most accounts he is well liked. I have friends who know him personally and say he is a very nice guy, polite and fun to be around. Couple that with his recent "stardom" in the TV commercials, making him an even more recognizable celebrity in the college football arena. Despite his "hayseed, grass eating" persona, I would say the man is pretty damn business savvy and is striking while the iron is hot.
I will also bet that he gets at least $2M on his contract, which will be for 4-5 years, with a bonus for taking them to a bowl game. Win-win for Les, win-win for LSU. Not sure why people are upset about a guy who did not take advantage of the system and is doing well for himself. It could be worse, it could be a $39M dollar contract for a Waffle House clown like Auburn has, that nobody wants.

100%.

Les' LSU contract is public information. It only stipulates that Miles must make a good faith effort to secure a coaching job. It doesn't require any amount of salary to be paid by another school.

It never ends. Some of these knuckleheads bend over backwards to take a swipe at Miles. And with the possibility of Miles getting a new job, they're moving at breakneck speeds to get their shots in before he's gone.

Not in their eyes. Miles is the boogeyman to some of them. Everythings is Miles fault. High gas prices...Miles fault. Climate change...Miles fault. O and E can't score a single point against Bama...Miles fault.

Only bad thing about this whole ordeal is that Alleva was instrumental. Wouldn't be surprised if he didnt really screw it up

Agree- Hes the one who got us in the pickle in the first place.- and just gave Caldwell a three year extension. She has not won since she got here !!

It is a great deal for LSU, getting out of that horrendous buyout Alleva and the BOS Jindalistas agreed to.

won’t know if it’s good or not until we see the numbers for his KU contract.

if they pay him anything north of $6.5mil total compensation, then LSU comes out in the hole.

Not unethical because everyone knew this was going to happen. The wool wasn't pulled over Alleva's eyes this time like it was when he gave Miles the contract in the first place. I am fine with this and Miles has handled himself with class throughout this process.
