If Miles gets the Kansas job which is being reported as likely, What he did to LSU in his negotiations is highly unethical. If he knew he had the Kansas job locked, he just knowingly screwed LSU out of another $1.5 Mil.

Unethical? What code of ethics does a private individual have to abide by when owed money from a contract?

More than likely if LSU had not settled with the $1.5 million buyout, Miles would not have accepted the Kansas job. He wouldn't want to work for free.

That would mean LSU would have been on the hook paying Miles salary until 2023.

Both sides won.

No he didn't........he helped LSU. He could have taken the Kansas job for less pay and still be on LSU's books. Look at what Charlie Strong did to Texas. He took USF for like around 600k-800k and Texas is still paying the buyout!

You're an idiot. There is nothing "unethical" about negotiating a deal that is in your best interest. And if you don't think LSU was not fully aware of why he was negotiating, you're even dumber than I implied above.

By the way, he could have taken a small salary at Kansas and let LSU make up the difference.

Nothing unethical about what Les did.

But when people started screaming about "can't believe Les did this" I started laughing and told everyone who would listen - " he has a job in his pocket".

It is the only reason anyone would negotiate that deal yesterday.

Value of current buyout

Minus contract amount with Kansas

Equals: 1.5 million dollars.

None of this is hard.

The "value of current buyout"

And you sound butthurt.

I'm sure they were happy to hand him the 1.5 and be done

It was actually the exact opposite of unethical.

Well lets look at this another way. Miles interviews for a job and that School and AD says hey Les, LSU still owes you $6.5 million. They lowball what they offer Les. Lets say the job is a $2.5 million a year job for 4 years. The school offers Les $1 Million a year for 4 years. LSU would still owe $2.5 Million difference, $6.5 million LSU owes minus 4 million he made from new School.

Most posters should continue to just "lurk" rather than reveal lack of intelligence.

All the discussions regarding Les' settlement have revealed a lot about the intelligence of the average ranter...lower than I expected.

What?! You think Les is going to make LESS than $5mm at Kansas over that period?

Les got an extra $1.5mm and there's no way around it.

LSU, from a risk analysis, decided the $1.5mm was a safer path. They were wrong.

If giving somebody $5 million dollars they owed you is screwing someone over then I cannot wait to get screwed over.
