He didn't offer Steve. He offered him an opportunity to interview.

O said he'd get the best OC in America. Most would agree he did. He went and got Canada. Canada failed. Credit O for attempting to make it better. I don't know about you all but that's what I wish Leslie would have done.
O also said early on he desired a pro style attack with deep threat. He's trying to do that.
Give the guy a chance you lame fans.
This is going to be a fun Offense. I've seen enough of Enslinger so far to be confident of that.

Have you?

What about the 2016 game gave you any confidence?

Also isn’t a run based pro style offense with deep threats what we’ve run for like the last 10 years? How has that worked out?

I don’t even disagree. I think he’ll be just fine. I also think we could have done better.

I respect SE a lot for being content in his role the past eight years. It takes a big man with a clear mind and strong character to know his limitations and be content with the best position suited to him. Not just always looking to the next step up. And to be able to put the team before their pride and ambition.

If only our current HC had the self awareness that SE did, SE wouldn’t have found himself in the unenviable position of potentially drowning to let an in over his head head coach stand on his shoulders to keep his head above water.
I had the exact same 3 thoughts.

Well, Kragthorpe was supposed to be the OC, but he was diagnosed with cancer, and decided to step back and just become the QB coach.

And did Miles give the job to Ensminger?

SE was OC at Louisiana Tech when they had the #1 offense in the country.

I'm also in total agreement with Jacob Hester. Give the man a chance!

I would’ve said no as well Les Miles brought in a couple of OC’s but yet we still ran only 4 plays meaning Les Miles was the OC Ensminger knew he wouldn’t have control of his offense so he declined

Did 2016 not happen? Was that not a chance?

O&E has a chance to beat bama and lost
O&E has a chance to beat Florida and lost.

Those were 2 huge chances to win support and earn their positions and we didn’t get it done.

That’s not what I heard. I heard he asked SE if he wanted to be considered and SE declined.

Getting the "best" OC was an explanation for how Orgeron might succeed despite his shortcomings.

It's a pretty tough pill to swallow for logical people to just accept that the best guy for the job was someone that was already on staff for the last 8 years of ineffective passing offenses.

The passing game will likely be substandard.

And George Bush was in the White House.

No...this George Bush.

With very few exceptions he throttled back offense after 2008 and relied on defense.
Not really.
If you check the media guide prior to posting instead of fabricating stuff, you would see quite a few of Miles Top 5 offensive records came after 2008.

From LSU Team Records
2011 is #3 TDs by rush and pass, #3 in ppg,
2013 is the #1 ypg, #2ppg,
2015 is #5 ypg and #2ypp.

Yep. If SE's who we've needed the past 8 years then where has this guy been?

I'm just gonna say what I always did when it came to Miles and OC's, after 2008 the offense was Miles's and it really mattered very little IMHO who the OC was. The differences were at best subtle and insignificant IMHO because Les controlled the offense so completely.

It is interesting though that Ensminger said he wasn't interested and also reportedly told O again he'd do the interim but did not want the gig full time.

And then at the PC said it was his dream job. Again, interesting.

I don’t know why so few fans are able to see past their own confirmation biases to recognize that we’ve actually had a few pretty good seasons on offense. 2013 was an especially good year. I think the reason is that our pro-style wasn’t as flashy as the spread, and the LSU fan base was more concerned with keeping up with the jonse’s than they were with the actual results on the field.

I’m convinced that we should be running a pro-style. We have nfl-caliber athletes and that’s the most successful style at that level. Like what Ryan Clark said this season about Canada’s fly sweep, gimmicky offenses are what you run when you don’t have the roster that LSU has.

Is O going to let him run his own plays?

Just wondering.

Also what are E's plays?

when the last time he put together a playbook?

I partially agree, excepting 2013 was good, and the premise Ensminger could've somehow improved passing considering what there was to work with, besides Mett.
