Injury or passed up by the younger guys and transfers? I had high hopes for him contributing this years as he showed some flashes last year

MWiii has not played in a while I don’t think.

Im talking about Mike Williams the point guard freshman from last year. He didn’t play a single minute in a 40 point blowout the other night.

He's been decent when he has played. I would say he has played better than Givens.

He is still on the sidelines and cheering on the team, so clearly a part of the program. He really fell out of the rotation after he had that game with 4 turnovers in 8 minutes. But yeah, not getting in at all in a blowout is eyebrow raising.

I would have to guess either academic eligibility or perhaps they are going to try for a redshirt. He would be really good in a 3 guard rotation with CG3 and Vyctorius, especially if they are all soph's eligibility wise next year.

He probably is. We have a lot of iii's this year in CG3, MW3, and RM3.

Nope Mike Williams who is still on the team and played last year. And yes had played very sparingly which is what I’m asking about. I was saying last year he played well.

We were talking about FriscoTiger who thought you were talking about Robert Miller. We know who you were talking about.

It is odd, but McMahon is tighter on information than Mulkey somehow.

I think it is more of a matter of no one caring enough to ask. There is little to no media attention given to the basketball program. In football if some obscure potential transfer attended practice everyone would know about it in 5 minutes. The basketball team could have the top recruit in the nation make a visit and no one would find out about it for a week.

Mikey has been non-existent. Not sure why. Surprised Fountain's PT has been so limited as well, although that has ticked up lately.

He's been injured.

I've been wondering the same thing. He was playing well and getting valuable minutes down the strech last year backing up Hanibal. The 2
of them stabilized the point guard position last year and were main reasons for our strong finish.

He doesn't appeared injured and has been dressed and warming up every game. I know Fountain is coming back from injury and is playing a little more each game. It was very surprising that he didn't play on Tuesday. I wouldn't think he would be dressed if he was red shirting or injured.

I think he is in good standing with the team, doesn't appear hurt in shootaround, just think he is taking a redshirt. Hope we can keep him around next year.

A player can't appear in a single game and still redshirt in basketball. Unless a rule change is coming, he's not eligible for a non-medical redshirt

Didn't realize that...which makes his lack of playing time even more odd. He played in all 33 games last year and averaged 7 ppg. Sure you have high hopes for Givens, but he hasn't been so good this year that it warrants Williams getting no meaningful minutes whatsoever. LSU's been solid, but not so good they can just avoid playing a guy with SEC experience at all costs.

It seemingly can't be an academic eligibility issue because he appeared in 5 games in November. If he was ineligible they would not have played him. There's been no indication of any injury. As you noted, he can't redshirt now. Perhaps he is under punishment for a violation of team rules that we don't know about?

I have no intel on the situation but that seems like the most likely scenario. Givens has had a couple recent stinkers that would have definitely justified some run for Williams, but being the only DNP against Stetson clearly shows there's something precluding him from playing.

Reportedly the NCAA is considering such a change and reviewed the proposal in September. All sports would allow up to 33% of games to be played while retaining the redshirt, or about 10 games.
