That’s an example of a ref looking to make a “make-up” call. McMahaon was completely inside of the box by the time the ref blew the whistle to give the warning.

What a stupid fricking call. A warning after a made basket where the HC was 4 inches over the line? Shut the frick up a ref the game. No one wants to watch you unnecessarily stop the game

They’re trying to effect the momentum. What they’re doing isn’t necessary, the play isn’t even chippy or close to out of control, the coaches aren’t either. The refs are injecting themselves into the game.
