I think BK probably made his intentions known to Max that he’ll be looking to bring a QB in from the portal. Probably asked Max if he’s ok with it. Max said no.

Max probably could use a fresh start mentally, too. Came to LSU not expecting to see the field until 2022, actually started 3rd string in 2020. Got tossed into the fire, tried his best but might feel like his play was the reason his coach got fired. If he took this year like that, I could see him wanting to be elsewhere more stable.

I don’t think this is necessarily the case. They know a knew OC was coming in as soon as O was cut loose (even if they don’t know who it is yet.)
I’m sure they have a good idea that it’ll fit BKs style of OFF. and it shouldn’t be hard to find out what he’s done in the past and what he has in mind by talking to him.
I think it tells us that he told the QBs there will be an open competition, there will be a QB transferring in or both.

I can’t imaging going through the tough year like they did sticking together (without those that quit) and then leaving your team/brothers high and dry before a bowl game.
