Who the hell actually draws up a play like that?

I remember clearly saying “wtf is that?!” When I saw him do that. It was that moment he should have never played again especially in sec games.

normally I'd agree any kind of tune up game is beneficial, but Duquesne is FCS with losses to Sacred Heart & Saint Francis last year.

Hawaii went on to beat Fresno St. & Colorado St... UCLA actually had a decent test before playing us.

Don't think duquesne will do anything for FSU except give us extra film on them.

I went back and watched the play because I felt like it was a 4th down play at a point where LSU either had to convert or the gam was over. It wasn't

It was at the end of the 3rd quarter on 3rd and 2 with LSU at the UCLA 16 yard line, trailing 24-17. Sure you want to get a TD there, but coming away with some points was worthwhile and certainly not worth that huge risk. What happened was evident. Johnson took the snap at the 20. With pressure up the middle he kept dropping back. Then turned to run, only to realize he was STILL losing ground, potentially taking LSU out of FG range. Knowing he was about to take a huge loss, he just flung the ball to stay in FG range. The problem it was a crazy, unnecessary risk at that point in the game. Especially given York had a big leg. Ultimately, LSU got 3 points...that didn't matter in the end. But that could have been a disaster.

Johnson wasn't as bad a QB as many on here like to believe. The problem is he wasn't a big time playmaking QB, and LSU needed that to overcome many of their shortfalls brought on by Orgeron in 20 and 21. Basically he is like his dad. If the pieces are in place around him (like 2002 Tampa Bay) Johnson is good enough to win games. But he's not a QB that is going to win you games on his own.

There were many sunshine pumpers trying to tell us how great UCLA was after that game. I saw what I saw and knew 2021 was gonna be tough after that game.
