I've meet MM probably 3-4 times and every single time has been really nice and pretty personable. I wouldn't say he has the most outgoing personality, but each time he made it a point to come shake hands and speak to me and the others around me. Not sure its fair to judge his marketing of the program based on a passing interaction in the hallway of another coach's camp

Would also add that I've also spoken to CJJ a few times and honestly I find him and CMM to have somewhat similar personalities. All that to say that I don't think the lack of success on the basketball side is because of Mcmahon's personality

You're going to have to explain this one.

Participation trophies because I think it's ridiculous parents should have to pay an extra $10 for a photo with the coach on top of the couple hundred bucks you're paying for the camp?

Did you say Good Morning to him? You had less going on than CMM and you couldn't be bothered to say hello? He's probably creating a thread about stuck up fans that won't interact.

My daughter is attending Kim Mulkey's camp at LSU this week. Matt McMahon has been walking through the halls both days I've gone into drop her off. He doesn't interact with any of the kids or parents, as they walk by. Maybe I'm being too hard on him, but I don't understand why someone who is trying to build support for a struggling program wouldn't at least say "Good morning" and smile at the kids and tell them to enjoy basketball camp. Hell, maybe introduce himself to a few of the parents that are walking by. Over the past couple of years, I've often thought he's not a very good marketer for the program. The past couple of days have just confirmed that for me. Have any of you all had more positive interactions with him?

it's probably because you're ugly

Wait a second.

You have to PAY extra to get a picture of your Daughter with the person who's camp you’ve just PAID for your Daughter to attend?

Saw him in the concourse at Omaha last year, stop and talked to him for a few minutes. He was nice as he could be, not many people recognized him, but he talked to everyone who did.

Last but not least, lay off McMahon. He's quietly building a basketball dynasty here; like the Pitti Palace, it's being put together, brick by brick.

Try saying “Good morning Coach” if you see him again.

I’m not trying to gain support for a struggling team. He is.

That's true. But you can't both lose and also bemoan the fact no one show up to games. I'm not necessarily saying McMahon does that. But if you attended a LSU game last year (and judging by the crowd sizes, you likely didn't) you would have saw that in LSU's pregame hype video (right before the starting lineups are announced) there is an overlay of McMahon saying something along the lines of "Don't wait until we start winning to show up. Be a reason we win by showing up."

While it's a good line, it does create a chicken or the egg situation. I understand having a great crowd can energize the home team...but most fans (not just LSU fans) aren't going to show up en masse until the team starts winning. So if you want to build interest BEFORE the winning comes you have to get out an interact with potential fans and try to create a buzz.

That discussion aside, he shouldn't be so harshly judged on one interaction of one of probably dozens of interactions the guy has every day where he didn't say hello.

With his wife’s bank accounts. There were multiple that the ncaa nailed LSU for. It’s completely documented how sloppy Wade was. We ain’t Kansas, Arizona, or Duke. LSU and Wade don’t get the benefit of the doubt. That being said Wade was almost permanently suspended and never provided anything to the program. And never would have. He, nor his coaching staff laid down the law and taught basic defensive principles. Defense wins championships and Wade couldn’t teach that.

Mac has at least 2 more years left. That’s a fact. He and Mulkey have the same floor of offices and pick each others brains.
