I don't know why people were so defensive over him. Just because he coached at ULL?

It was a local media campaign he launched that included dozens of posters on this site to pump him up. Went from a passing mention to “it’s the only logical choice. Trust me, it’s a done deal. Bookmark it” etc

It sounds ok on paper, but we lost 5 of the top 10 last year, 2 of the top 7 this year with #1 over all going out of state 2 years in a row. We can’t let that happen anymore. We used to take all of the top LA guys, then cherry pick Texas. Now Texas schools are cherry picking LA.

Holy shite Napier posts here

I mean, at least O had 2 good seasons and won a title. Napier has no connection to LSU and hasn’t accomplished that much. It’s insane how some here still simp for him.

This is a very short term flex. Without JD5, where are we? He didn't get a JD5
just a top 5 NFL draft pick in Anthony Richardson.

It’s happening far more than the occasional Bama flip. It’s really not a debate.

Without NIL, guys like Mathews, McKinley, probably most others with the exception of Manning, are tigers. The Texas schools are coming in and buying who they want. That needs to be fixed. LSU can’t survive on Southeastern and UL transfers forever.

In what universe is 5-5 in yr 2 compared to 7-3 with a 2-0 head-to-head matchup seen as a better path??? (Florida) will have a high hill to climb to even be bowl eligible while LSU already climbed that hill.

By the way, who recruited, signed, and developed JD??

No it’s not but keep melting. Like the other dude said 8 out of the top 10 this year. We are never going to always keep people home. If they want to chase a bag to play and we don’t want to offer who cares

Since about 3 years after Saban got to Bama, we have not automatically locked down LA. Did you forget 2016 and 17, when O struggled to keep guys from leaving? That wasn’t just a few flips. It was across the board and Bama won 2 titles with those classes and those players as leaders and a Heisman winner.

I’ll give O credit that he did stop the flow out in 18 and 19, but don’t pretend this is automatic. Anytime LSU struggles it’s open season.

The top 2 guys this year- both defensive players. Do you think that works in our favor right now? One wanted nothing to do with LSU no matter what. The other is a DT, where we’ve had 4 coaches in 5 years and our current one has been out all season until just recently.

The staff needs to do better on defensive recruiting. I don’t dispute that. Replacing House with someone who can coach and recruit better will help with that.

Do you have any complaints about offensive recruiting right now? I sure don’t.

You can stamp your little foot all you want, but we will never be able to straight outbid Texas and A&M for recruits they throw the book at. It’s ridiculous to think that’s even possible.

You have to do what they have done for years next door in MS- use state ties, build a strong network, win over all of the big-time high school coaches and staff, win over families and buy them off if necessary, and pay what you can for the players who are worth it. Do that and win and players will keep coming here.

Uh, lol. It literally is. This season is not as bad (yet), but we’ve lost at least half of the in-state top 10 in the 22 and 23 cycles. The Orgeron firing and NIL have changed everything. LSU has some work to do whether you want to pump sunshine or not. Borderline top 10 classes aren’t going to cut it.

I think my son would rather play for Billy over Brian. He’s just a cooler guy.

I think Florida has a good coach.

Rolf they are about to go under .500 for the second straight year

You have to go back to the 1940s to find a Florida HC with two losing seasons in his first two years. This place would be going nuclear if that happened here.

Yet people want to pimp his recruiting rankings, as if we haven't seen how those worked out for A&M.

That clears up why you have an ax to grind I guess you don’t count when O watched as Saban raided the best players in the state his first two seasons. That was different, somehow.

Again, let’s hear your thoughts on offensive recruiting? Do you really think we are having any issues on that side of the fricking ball?

Fix the defensive staff and this is solved.

And for people bitching about LA recruiting- Napier is not dominating Florida in-state recruiting by a long shot right now.
