He will transfer to a big 12 school, play safety, and be a 2nd round pick .

If he had that ability to play safety wouldn’t our coaches be playing him there? Two different highly respected defensive coordinators have opted not to play him at safety in spite of the fact that we have needs at safety and that he wants to play safety.

He clearly has more than enough athletic ability. Something else must be missing. Maybe he’s lousy in coverage, and they can’t fix it. Maybe he can’t backpedal well enough. Perhaps he can’t judge a ball in flight very well. I don’t know and neither do any of you. I trust Aranda and Pelini, though.

Idk how he is in coverage, but he’s a missile when he’s sent at the QB

Wow very shocking. There has to be some internal beef going on for him wanting to transfer.

Brooks was a 3rd down edge rusher last year. I don’t remember him playing safety back in coverage at all.

He never saw the field at safety. If y’all recall, when asked about Marcel during the season, O said Marcel wanted to be a safety so they let him play safety despite wanting him to be a linebacker. O said Marcel realized he wouldn’t see the field at safety so he agreed to play LB and got on the field and made plays.

Me either. Most if his impact snaps were with his hand down in the "mustang" or whatever they called it. He had great impact and was an absolute blur at times. That said he can't do that every down and make it through the season or not get schemed out by opponents.

Cheetah, I believe. I always took that as a DV/edge hybrid role in the package more than a LB role. Regardless, this is all making the point that it seems Aranda was much more fluid in his position/role allocation. It appears BoP is more strict/traditional

I hope it's not a done deal, but I also hope the kid gets what he is looking for out out of his career. I thought he was fun to watch, but also felt his position was a bit of an anomaly, and he would definitely be a tweener when it came to the NFL, which I would guess is his ultimate goal. If he doesn't trust this system (and I do not know if that is even the case), it is best that he does move on, and as someone else said above, I hope it is somewhere in the Big XII or elsewhere outside the SEC.

That would be best or stay here, He will get a waiver no doubt, cannot end up at Texas or SEC. All these people saying Fk him are ridiculous, biggest impact freshman besides Stingley obviously, great energy played good. To turn on him isn’t right unless you know something concrete.

O has been saying he believes him to be a LB for longer than Pelini has been the DC.

After those two safeties you have Maurice Hampton who came in when Delpit was out. Todd Harris coming back from injury and Stevens And Vincent (Nickel back) are returning. And that’s before you get to 4 star safety Jordan Toles that is coming in.

It’s not like he had a spot waiting for him to take over this upcoming season. LSU needs LB help more than it needs Safety depth and the coaches believe he is a better fit for Lb anyway so it makes sense to move him there permanently. If he doesn’t like it then I understand the transfer and it is probably best for both parties. It sucks but both sides will be ok.

ETA: his recruiting ranking was as an outside linebacker not as a safety. He was rated the number 2 OLB on 247 composite. So seems like everyone but Marcel Brooks thinks he is a LB long term.

I honestly think he's prob. been actively trying to get a waiver,(prob. a done deal) if so he's gone obv.
and it sucks, cause I was hoping for big things from him, best of luck to him though

FIFY

Conceptually, O knows what he wants to do - on Offense and Defense.
He finally got what he envisioned the last couple of years on Offense. Esminger/Brady made it happen. I trust it.

With Bo, it seems his philosophy is more in line with what O really wants to do on Defense - pressure, especially with aggressive D-line. Aranda was great, no doubt. Pelini has proven to make LSU’s D elite, and I trust he/they can do it again.

He’s too slight to hold up on an every down basis. Stevens has 25+ lbs on him. He could definitely grow into that role and be an all-american, though. If he can’t get on the field at safety at his current size, then growing into a LB is his only hope. LSU specializes in smallish LBs, so this seems like the place for him, unless the plan is to step down to a school where he’s better than the safeties they have on the roster. While that may get him on the field at the position of his choice, that’s not going to get him paid at the next level.

So why all of the "he wants to be closer to mom" stuff?
