...But to make the scouts leave the game talking about Marceaux and Hill.

Why make your starting pitchers more nervous than they already are? We need them to pitch within themselves and go deep in the game to have a shot. Guess we’ll see how it works out.

[quote]#LSU Paul Mainieri has told Landon Marceaux and Jaden Hill that many pro scouts are coming to Alex Box Stadium to see Kumar Rocker and Jack Leiter - make those scouts leave the game talking about Landon Marceaux and Jaden Hill.

Don't have any problem with this. He's just trying to motivate them.

It's basically a "these guys think they're better than you, prove them wrong" thing that any coach would tell their guys as underdogs.

Not everybody on this planet is a massive pussy. I'm guessing the Friday and Saturday starters at LSU aren't. That's what he should be telling them.

These two men have been pitching in front of scouts for years. I highly doubt that challenging them in that way will make them nervous.

Oh Man. Let's not try to motivate our players or anything.

Why would a coach want to do that?

These guys have been in showcase tournaments since before they could drive and Marceaux represented our country on foreign soil.

Scouts aren’t new to them.

We’ll see. Like I said, just don’t see the need to put any pressure on them. They should be motivated enough given who and what they’re facing.

FFS, why would that scare them? They are on a big enough platform to know that scouts may be at any game. Maybe it'll scare Rocker and Leiter lol.

Do you think scouts don’t come and watch Hill and Marceaux on a regular basis? They already know there will be scouts at the game. They’ve been pitching in front of scouts since high school

Problem with that is he's going with the defensive lineup for no reason

Fine, but what is he telling our hitters?

Those scouts are here to watch the other team?

They want to see how well you respond after striking out with a runner in scoring position your last time up?

Here's the deal. And it's not just you. Members of this board judge a statement and/or action based upon how they like the coach. Unfortunately, if Mainieri were your favorite coach at LSU currently, you would love this. I know you've seen it in the football realm. Deny all you want, but it's a simple truth.
