Is it safe to say that LSU gets smoked in the postseason whether or not they host, or have to travel?

I listened to the entire video you linked.

Mainieri spent much more time in his remarks praising his players than he did saying negative things about them.

And the few negative remarks were absolutely true. It IS inexcusable to walk the lead-off hitter in that situation.

But go ahead and focus only on the negative. That's very revealing about YOU.

Mainieri gonna be Mainieri, Throwing Another Under The Bus, I wish he would coach his Alma Mater and leave LSU before we're back to the days of Jim Smith and Jack Lamabe.

You know that you don't have to graduate from a school for it to be your alma mater? So, in that case, he is coaching his alma mater currently.

Considering Ripoll was the only effective pitcher yesterday I Would have ridden him until the end especially with the way Fontenot has struggled his last couple of outings.

PM is a grinding type coach and unfortunately this team hasn't responded to the message for whatever reason.

I'm not going to debate PM's success at LSU because the morale was pretty low at the end of the Laval era - no accountability. PM has won SEC titles, tournament titles and regular appearances in Omaha in an age of parity.

LSU is just back to where they were at the end of the Javi era. Too many PM disciples in the room when a different voice might reach these guys better.

Need some new assistants to shake it up.
The Cain mistake was just awful.

Complain all you want but LSU could be South Carolina right now. Look how hard it's been to replace Tanner for anyone that wants a head coaching change.

Or he’s trying to set a fire into a guy who’s role is to come in like a bulldog and get results.

That’s not fair, you ruined his entire rant.

Now folks will replay the tape and hear Mainieri bragging on how we fought back.

I've heard Paul Mainieri speak more highly of Ron Maestri than Skip.

When you allow 19 runs in a game, I don't think it was simply one player who cost you the game.

The buck stops with CPM. Whatever he discusses with the team in private is one thing, but he needs to keep that shite behind closed doors. I don't want to hear him say what went wrong, I want to hear him say what he is going to do to fix it.

You gave up 19, there is plenty of blame to go around.

I agree with PM, you bring in your closer and he walks the first batter, it's the kiss of defeat. Shame Fontenot couldn't close the deal after the great comeback in the bottom of the 9th.

You've heard him speak more highly of a guy he actually played for and had a more personal impact on his life than a guy he only knew as his boss?

Stop the fricking presses.

Nothing wrong with a little "tough love" in the politically correct world.

Keep your weak-arse political bullshite out of baseball. It's not about "political correctness" (whatever the frick that means), it's about leadership. In public, a leader should take responsibility for failure, after all it's his fault, but he should credit the team for successes. In the process of fixing what he did wrong, he should approach players either privately, or as a squad or team with what should be done to achieve success in the future.

It's just bad form to display your dirty laundry in public by shifting blame to a college student. The coach gets paid over a million dollars a year to get these kids to win games, the kids don't gat paid shite.

Baseball is a game of failure; people who fail 2 of 3 times make the hall of fame. Fans, including LSU's coach, forget that they are also dealing with 18-20 year old minds, not fully mature humans or robots. External criticism, which actually is damaging, not motivating or helpful, reveals a lack of recognition of these facts, and an immaturity, insecurity or panic on the part of the openly vocal critic.

If this coach's track record is that of frequent external criticism, maybe replacement should be considered. Asking him to improve on this would likely be unsuccessful.

I listened to the entire tape as well

He talks about how the guys fought back, and played hard and gave us a chance, "unfortunately except for a few guys..."

and then I heard him specifically blame a player for the loss by name

So yes, I listened to the entire interview as well

Blaming your players in public is the weakness thing a coach can do, shameful.

This. He did it his very first year here and it was cowardly then and it’s still cowardly today. It’s like the analogy Sean Payton gave, when children continually act poorly in public eventually you start looking at the parents
