He took that job for his last hurrah and a nice paycheck to boot....and I dont blame him. 6.5 mil for 5 years with standard buyout, he did good, IMO.

He ain’t wrong.

Now… how much time did he have to create this roster? Did he have lots of opportunities to use the portal and recruiting? Does he have access to enough NIL money?

He didn’t lie…

But he could have made it sound praise for the talent LSU has, and less like “our boys suck”…

Something along the lines of…
“They have several pitchers who were drafted or pulled their name from the draft, and decided to play college ball.
They have a player that has hit damn near 20 homers. They are loaded with guys that will be playing professional ball, next season or the one after…. We aren’t going to back down, but It’s just really hard to compete that talent level!”

God forbid he's just honest. Poor guy is slowly getting the Nick Saban treatment here. What would you say?

Calling out the school. If this is what he has to work with, this is what you get on the field.

It’s an entirely different conversation on whether he’s the coach to build a better team but the above issue still exists.

Reminds me of the on field interview after LSU beat Moo State 51-0 in 2004. Sylvester Croom said he would need 3 #1 recruiting classes to compete with a Saban LSU team.

This. I don’t understand why SC hired him, or why he took the job

I’m sure he’s a bit pissed at their home field advantage this weekend too. Follow up question should have been about the atmosphere

South Carolina made almost as bad of a hire bringing back this old fossil as North Carolina did when they hired Bill Belichick and his OnlyFans dominatrix.

If he doesn’t want his 3rd baseman, I’m sure we have a spot for him next year!

He basically said the same thing about his first team at LSU in 2007. And he wasn't wrong.

I thought it was a bad fit from day 1. They needed to take a chance on a young guy with a lot of energy who could start fixing recruiting from the ground up. They hired an old guy with the heck of a résumé from before the NIL era of college baseball.

I didn’t follow their interviewing process closely, but my hunch is that he was the only guy within reach for them who had already won a natty. And that’s why they picked him..

Love CPM, but this won’t end well.

I coached a college club team once. We knew going into most/if not all games that we were going to lose. Shitty feeling, but the truth was the truth.

The kids still played their asses off despite being outnumbered and outmatched. Played with pride.

Paul is a realist.
