Solution - 8 team playoff. 5 conference champions + 3 at large chosen by the committee.

It doesn't matter only for a few select teams. Ohio State and Bama are two that seemed exempt.

If LSU doesn’t play and win the SEC Championship game in ‘07 (and then a lot of other weird things happen), they don’t win the Natty. Those were BCS days though.

But they do matter, if you lose them. It really sucks to watch a team get "rewarded" for losing their last game.

My solution is to expand to 6 teams. Each P5 champion and highest ranked G5 champion. Use rankings to seed each champions playoff spot, and give the top 2 teams a first round bye. If you want to be considered one of the nation’s best teams then win when it matters. All of the talk leading up to last week’s Iron Bowl was about how that game was a play-in for the SECCG which then acted as a play-in for the CFP making it a de facto playoff game in and of itself. Everyone knew what was on the line and Bama was outmatched.

Winning matters .. but so does fair play.

Without having Conference Championship games (extra game .. extra chance to lose) you would have Clemson, Wisconsin, Auburn and Oklahoma.

Basically, Wisconsin and Auburn got screwed because they had to play an extra game. Meanwhile, Alabama sits home again and gets in.

Should do away with the Conference Championship games .. do away with conference divisions .. all conferences play 9 conference games (rotating schedules) .. best at the end wins the conference.

UCF’s entire season is irrelevant. Imagine someone saying to the team in the locker room before the season.....you can win every game on your schedule and you still won’t get a chance in the playoffs.

Don’t get started on conference championships not mattering, their whole season doesn’t matter.

I don’t think there is another sport in collegiate athletics where a team can win every game on its schedule and not advance to post season playoffs.

The goal at the beginning of each season should be get your butts into the BCS top four with 1 loss minimum and screw the conference championship.

Simply put,not all conferences are equal. Some may have a multiple loss champion.

The SECCG and ACCCG most certainly mattered.

The winner was in and the loser was out.

So Mack Brown is only half right.

Kill conference championship games, take 1 week of the regular season out and expand the playoffs to 8 teams.
