Well...congrats to LSU for doing what I suggested 12 years ago when they unveiled that abortion of a logo with the creepy short arms and the fricking hurricane in the background.
I said at the time that the round tiger head was universally loved, but if they wanted to update it to make it more easily reproduced and sharpen the lines then that would be the way to go. This appears to be that attempt.
FWIW, I don't like it as much as the '72 version that has that great angle to it...but it's better than the middle one which looked like a shitty attempt to copy the '72 head.

The 72 and 2013 version look like someone threw up in yellow purple and white on them. The licensee version looks sharp.

The 2013 logo is actually symmetrical in color and design which will make it much easier to produce. This is the problem with the other two as previously stated in the thread. In any case it is miles away from toonces in the positive direction so I'm all for it.

No, the "LSU" lettering on our helmets is dark purple.
What's been odd to me for years is that the dark purple on our helmet doesn't come close to matching the lighter purple on our shoulder stripes and pant stripes. I'm not trying to be the fashion police, but geez, can't we be consistent? I'm sure we spend a fortune on our uniforms - why not make them look perfect.
The new Tiger head is an improvement, but it's still very hard to recognize at any distance.
Also, with the new tighter jersey design, our shoulder stripes look ridiculous. They look like suspenders. I realize we updated the stripe a year or so ago so they come further down near the armpit, but they still look silly. Back in the old days when jerseys actually had sleeves, the stripes looked very cool. Not anymore though.
I'd change it to look something like USC uses on their shoulders, with some striping added in. It would still keep the tradition, but would look updated.
This concept looks much better to me. Still, the shade of purple is way off from the helmet purple.
