It wasn't that humid at the game - I've been in worse. What I did notice is that for a 3:30 game, the LSU sidelines was in the direct sun for the first three quarters, whereas the Florida sideline was shaded by the stands on their side. That would make a significant difference, IMHO.

with our offense this bad, it will take an effect on our defense.

Can't keep putting them back on the field that quickly. Any kind of drive on offense, even if few points are scores, is enough for the D to stay fresh.

They couldn’t stop us,” Florida guard Jon Halapio said. “They were very tired toward the end of the game. You could see that in their facial expressions, especially in their technique and their play.”

Well, when the time of possession is so one sided like it was in that game, you would expect the defense to wear down.

I don't know exactly what the time of possession was, but it was around

UF - 38 min.
LSU - 22 min.

This is the reason why right here.

obviously the defense was tired due in large part to the offense not getting enough first downs. obviously, the offense lost the game. the d gave them the ball on 7 yard line. no td. ogj fumbled away the longest play of game.

having said that, fatigue is no excuse for the d allowing florida to run 15+ running plays. the defense could hav gotten off field by making a stop. someone has to step up and make a play. no one did that. that was a part of why the d got fatigued. finally, the defense would have to score a td to win the game

I'm convinced now that our offense is designed to wear down the defense. Just so happens it was ours.

So Guilibeau is apparently pissing LSU off now, too.

The only bit of news (for me at least) was that Minter's problems were from cramping up and he had to get an IV. Dehydration I guess. I think both of the FL drives were when he was out.

Dude was definitely beast mode when he was in there so I can see why he was cramping. But I wish the training staff could have somehow prevent it.

I'm telling you it was a sweat box in Gainesville SATURDAY.

The weather vs UF was reported as:
86 degF, 63% RH (72 degF dew pt) LSU-UF 10/6/12 Box Score

The high in Gainesville last Sat was 89 degF at 2:44PM with 55% RH at 3PM (70 degF dew pt)

Y'all really need to get out more (in the summer). The weather in Gainesville was relatively mild by gulf coast summer standards. No reason for the climate to be a major fatigue factor.

By comparison:
At BR last Sat it was: 83 degF, 62% RH (70 degF dew pt) - very comparable to game conditions at UF.

Rosetta just tweeted that GG took a lot of the quotes out of context. Shocking I know!

Seriously admins let's go ahead an anchor GGs latest attempt at flaming the fan base.

In the first half, other than the first drive, the offense failed to get a first down. Every drive was a 3 and out with no drive taking more than 2:15 off the clock. In the 3rd quarter, we had another 3 and out, a drive that was 6 plays (due to two defensive penalties) that burned only 2:31.

It was at this point that fatigue started setting it.

Florida had the ball for 37+ vs. our 22+ minutes.

Anyone who blames conditioning for what happened against Florida is an idiot. This was a classic example of offensive problems causing the defense, which actually played its best game of the year, to be beaten.

What we don't know is what the field temperature is which is often much higher than the normal temperature.

those temperatures are taken in the shade. the sun can make a big difference

Former weather editor Jack Williams at Summit, Greenland, in 1997. The sun-soaked thermometer reads 80 degrees although the air was in the 20s.

Humidty and your offense doing the 1,2,3 footstep dance to the sidelines every series will do that to you! If they had put up 21 points on Florida in the first half when they should have, this game would have been over!!

Outside every single day... Everybody at our tailgate and quite a few people in the stadium mentioned how it was one of the stickier gamedays they could remember..

They're known as ambient air temps. Obviously, solar gain is a factor but the sun shines in Red Stick too.

The weather wasn't anything out of family. As a note, the dew pt in Houma on 7/26/10 was 82 degF. That IS humid.

I can understand why Minter was gassed. Unlike the DL he doesn't rotate out with anyone.

Last year the team was likely conditioned much better because of the Oregon up tempo game they had prepared so much for in the offseason. It served them well throughout the season and dominated teams in the 4th qtr of the regular season. Without a game like that to prepare for early in the year, I wonder if we are seeing the differences in 4th qtr conditioning this year.

No shite it was hot. It was The Swamp. Why do you think people say its the hardest place to play in all of college football? Its not just the noise...it gets REALLY fricking hot and humid.

The 2010 Tennessee game had older alumni being escorted out of their seats due to the heat. I think I read afterwards it was the hottest temperature ever recorded for a UF game. Something like 111 on the field. Its not something you can practice for unless you are the Gators.

If the heat and humidity got to the team, I would be extremely worried. I imagine it was being on the field for so long, and getting demoralized more than just the heat.

So your team practices in the Swamp on a regular basis?

There are likely at least 90 days/year in Baton Rouge (and the Gulf Coast region in general) that were more severe in terms of heat/humidity than last Sat in Gainesville.
