Exercise induced fatigue caused by the opponent's time of possession. Exhaustion. Every athlete has his breaking point. Treatable only by rest & recovery. See- Gerald Rigg's overtime td in 2005.

yeah and that = great playcalling and scheme right?

I'd have to imagine the defense got pretty tired. Tends to happen when you're on teh field for 40 minutes b/c your offense can't get a first down.
Florida has a good defense, but not THAT damn good. Just piss poor offensive playcalling and worse execution.

Maybe Minter and Big Sam would rather blame the D's exhaustion on the heat and humidity than throw their offensive team mates under the bus.

LSU players complaining of the heat is sort of like a musher saying he lost the Iditarod because it was too cold.

It was pretty humid in Gainesville Saturday

Guess the defense didn't want to throw the offense under the bus

per josh d it was 'too cold' at arkansas in 2010 (sunny and about 60)

I do not read this a-hole.

Have any of you mouth breathers considered that Guilbeau took a quote wildly out of context and way out of proportion?
I know that it would be hard to believe, but it's just a thought.

The heat causes a loss.
Which was caused from fatigue
Which was caused from defense on the field too long
Which was caused by offense getting 1 of 13 first downs
Which was caused by an ineffective passing game.
Which was caused from drop passes and poor blocking
Which was caused by not establishing a run
Which was caused by lack of adjustment to a stacked box.
Which was caused by vanilla offensive schemes.
Which was caused by offensive line confused
Which was caused by OL coach playing OC in the press box.
Which was caused by Les Miles not wanting to relinquish his control of the offense

Always enjoy reporters taking quotes, especially were guys are not trying to trash a teammate, & shifting it to make a guy look foolish.

Nobody wants to point out that for big parts of the long Florida drives in the second half, they brought in an extra tackle, who was pulling to create the seals, as on both touchdowns. That's a scheme advantage in creating an overload.
Pretty hard not to get tired when the other team adds 100 lbs to their blockers.
Of course, the lack of offense didn't help.

Congrats to you too. I was at the game Saturday so that might make me an expert. It was the most humid game I've been too since the Monday night Tennessee game. I've lived in Tampa and BR. I'm telling you it was a sweat box in Gainesville SATURDAY. ONE humid SATURDAY does not mean BR is not as humid year round. THAT SPECIFIC DAY it was worse in Gainesville than it had been the week in BR.

Florida guard Jon Halapio said. “They were very tired toward the end of the game. You could see that in their facial expressions, especially in their technique and their play.”
quote:
LSU coach Les Miles did not see it that way.
quote:
His players, though, agreed with Halapio’s assessment.
Miles won't even listen to his own players.

tonite on tigerrag radio, the statman said we threw 60% of our plays. almost 50% in first half. that is very DIFFERENT!! from anything we have everr done in miles' tenure. we did run 9 times straight at first down, but overall, we ran a totally DIFFERENT gameplan than anyone on the rant could have forecasted. (and NONE did.) lsu HAS to change for mett to be successful. just b/c a few knew better than miles is pure conjecture.
totally agree:
Here is my break down of the offensive in just the first half from yesterday.
quote:
LSU had 7 posessions.
Of those we ran 27 non kick/punt plays with 9 being on the first drive, meaning all of the other posessions were 3 plays and kick.
LSU ran 12 times and passed 15 (although the stats may disagree because sacks are considered a run with lost yardage and the failed attempted jump pass was considered a rush).
On first down LSU ran for 7/11 and threw for 4/11
LSU's starting field position was in order of posession:
LSU 22, 9, 6, 21, 8, 40, and then Fla 7. LSU threw on first down in the 1st and 4th possesions which have the bolded starting position.
What may be even more telling is the sucess of those rushing and passing attempts. Excluding penalties for (1 on a rush) and against (1 on a pass), the first posession had an average rush of 4.25 yrd per attempt and 9.4 yards per pass attempt. With penalties those averages change to 8 for rushing and 6.4 for passing.
The remaining 6 posessions resulted in 3.378 yrds per carry rushing and -1 yrd per attempt passing.
This gives LSU a first half average yard per attempt for rushing of 3.66 and passing 2.46 without penalties.
Passing also resulted in 1 turnover where as rushing did not account for a turnover in the first half.
