Moret was only there for a bit before he made for the exit. He would have been good for the foundation, he was probably Jindal's best cabinet sec. No surprise that Virginia hired him to run their economic development program.

I'm looking at the LSU Foundation website, and unless I'm missing something, this seems to be more geared to people who are able to donate in the thousands and above at a time, or those giving long term gifts. I'm kind of ignorant on how these things work, but why is there not a "Donate Now" button for those of us who are more casual donators?

The LSU Foundation's main focus should always be on major gifts. That's what they do best.

They will never (nor should they ever) turn down a small gift, but 75% or more of the Foundation's efforts should be on landing big fish.

Yet another who does not know of what he speaks. The Foundation is a private organization attached to LSU with an entirely different set of BOD's that gives to LSU with specificity.

Anecdotal example...while LSU is a public university, you are confusing public infrastructure taxes with donations that stay within an institution of higher education.

I wasnt using those examples to draw contrast with LSU endowment I was merely trying to point out two examples of situations that helped form the public opinion that prevents the endowment from being...well endowed?

I don't understand why the Foundation doesn't advertise at games. If they do I haven't noticed it.

If every alum gave $50 a year every year, we could build a respectable endowment.

It would also improve our academic ranking bigly. Alumni giving rate is a major metric.

I'm a small donor for Tulane, but I receive email and snail mail several times a year, and I've even gotten personal visits from their fundraisers. I've donated to the academic side for a long time and recently started donating to their TAF (after they brought back the Coaches Tour this summer).

Not sure if it's been mentioned but you can still get TAF priority points from donating to the LSU Foundation as well:

quote:

The TAF Priority Point System is used to allocate certain athletic tickets and parking passes based on giving to TAF and other LSU Affiliated Organizations (i.e., the LSU Foundation and the LSU Alumni Association). Effective Jan. 1, 2017, one TAF Priority Point is awarded for each $1,000 in philanthropic donations made to the LSU Foundation by an individual or a corporate entity. In addition, individuals making a properly documented planned gift to the LSU Foundation of $10,000 or more are eligible to receive 5 priority points.

Ii agree but directly proportional to number of students/graduates. They have twice as many students enrolled as LSU on a consistent basis. Plus, the Texas oil fields have provided a very lucrative alumni base from which to solicit endowment gifts.
LSU should be so lucky.

State leaders who don't want to stick their necks out and make education cuts where they need to be made (i.e., the schools that underperform in every aspect academically need to be closed or restructured).
Every college in Louisiana except for LSU, Tulane, La.Tech, Grambling and Southern needs to be converted to a Junior College.

Hammer on the nail. With two idiots like FKing and JBE deciding how my money is spent, my only contributions to my alma matter are the bare minimum fees that TOPS and schollys for my youngest don't cover. When he gradauates in May, there will be zero dollars directed to the University unless I cave and accept tickets from the many ticket holders that have already realize they've been had

I hope more LSU alumni stop looking at LSU as just a team to cheer for/donate to after they graduate and instead start donating to the endowment.

Someone else needs to do something before you'll jump in.

This thread has teased out the real issue at LSU. The school has groomed a bunch of sheep and no shepherds.

Nope....just not going to give my money to an idiot that has no more love for LSU than Hitlery Clinton. He has no idea of the traditions and history and if he does.....he doesn't respect them.

I would encourage everyone to go get involved with their local Alumni Chapter, or join the national chapter if none exists. I think you'd be pleasantly surprised at what these organizations (run by volunteers) are actually doing to benefit LSU across the country, and would give you a better idea of how you can give back; be in with time or money. I disagree with the sentiment that LSU is a mess; regardless of how our football team is doing, I am going to give back because it's my responsibility as a Alumni. LSU has not done a very good job of instilling that in students and it shows. I want LSU to be a better place than when I left it as a student. Just my 2 cents and everyone feels differently I understand.

I'm not giving my money to LSU. Sorry. Just not even going to consider it.
