LSU's approach to revenue sharing (nothing for baseball???)

I get football is important...but how is baseball not a bigger priority for LSU with this?
Clipped from an article quoting Keli Zinn from LSU:
"LSU’s plan for year one is to allocate 75% of its $20.5 million to football, 15% to men’s basketball and 5% to women’s basketball. The remaining 5% will be split across all other sports."

that's not what that says

It's not like LSU is going to invest 10% in baseball if the next closest school is investing 2%

Because a bunch of spoiled athletes along with screwed up ADs, coaches and tv partners have destroyed college sports.
Need to just end this joke and let NFL and NBA pay for their own minor leagues. MLB already does it, and these players can do that. 90%+ of them in those sports (football and basketball) could give two shits about the student part of their student athlete title, so let them make their money and stop with the farce.

The team you need to watch in the SEC that will rise in football and baseball is Tennessee. They have some of the most money in the SEC up there with Texas/TAMU. Wouldn't be shocking to see them outspend LSU in baseball.

only Football and Basketball make money....mostly from TV contracts
Baseball loses money....we just lose a lot less the most schools....

It seems to me like MLB is leaning way more on the college game to develop players than they did previously. They won't be maintaining the minor leagues to the extent they currently do forever. I think they have already made major cuts.

I'd love to hear why basketball gets 3+ million and baseball is lumped into the "every other sport splits 1 million" bucket. Swap those! 3M is a whole weekend of starters and then some.

Baseball needs to be #2 in pecking order. Ahead of basketball, for sure.

LSU baseball will probably take 4% of that bracket and give the 1% to the rest.

Designated for baseball NIL takes care of LSU Baseball.
The new media contract for the SEC PLUS a new contract for teams that play in the WBB NCAA Ty are gonna help LSUWBB NOT lose so much money in the coming years.
I am a season ticket holder in 4 LSU sports. I love LSU Baseball and even watch quite a bit of college baseball all through the season. But most LSU Baseball fans do not seem to realize that WBB gets many more eyes on it than does NCAA Baseball.

Yep and it's unfortunate. If you remove the TV contracts and just look at local revenue (ticket sales, parking, concessions, and secondarily hotel/restaurants in the local economy) I'd be shocked if basketball made more than baseball. The PMAC was a morgue this year. Hell WBB and even probably gymnastics did more at the local level, the MBB team was 3rd fiddle in their own building.
Now we know how Vandy football felt all these years collecting SEC checks

I wish. LSU baseball and college baseball is by far my favorite level of any sport in the country. Unfortunately, there's no denying that there are 2 sports in college that are infinitely more popular nationally. Our fanbase is a small minority.

Jay understands that football feeds all the other programs.

As of 23 LSU was actually the only program in the country that made money. Not sure if that’s changed since.
Posted on 6/18/25 at 4:02 pm to frogpond11
Then yall whine that LSU doesn't invest in men's basketball.
