The catcher of the future - Maci Bergeron- is unfortunately in Class of 2022. Total package with 30 homers this season, terrific arm and defender.

Personally I will be dissapointed if Tidwell or Coffey are still on the roster next year. I was not one of Tidwell's great admirers even before she went brain dead last night costing LSU some revenue for tonight.

Disagree with you on Coffey, huge potential there as a true freshman. Coffey belongs in the SEC, just needs to work on her fielding. Tidwell needs to go, should have been gone yesterday.

They have to replace Tidwell and Cummins,

2b has been a disaster since at least 2015.. I thought we were bad at 2b in 15-17 on some really good teams. As bad as we were then, we have been atrocious since. That situation and the transfer it caused set us back a few years at that position and we continue to suffer there.

Catching has been subpar since Jaquish left the spot. It’s hard to believe a program the caliber of LSU cannot fill those two spots.

These two spots literally cost us the game last night.

I had Pilon (our top prep recruit) penciled in at 2B but she redshirted this year.

Not sure what the answer is to the catcher situation until Bergeron gets here unless they use the portal

It's one thing to say starting but they have to be forced off the team to appease you?

No, the way this would work is that they would find themselves on other rosters where they could actually compete, and where their respective (Tidwell and Coffey) .154 and .226 BAs, and their .937 and .887 FLD% , both defensive team lows, would not be so overwhelmed, and thus they too would be able to fully enjoy what I would imagine is the awesome experience of playing and competing in College Softball.

In that way everyone involved is appeased except for you who would apparently rather see them perpetually on the bench eating snacks just so you can make a pointless and snide comment to simply..."appease you."

You're under the false impression that they can't compete and improve here, especially Coffey who's a true freshman with less than 100 ABs.

Thymes probably enjoyed her career doing mostly that. Same for Sydney Bourg, who left and came back and played less. Why they'd want stay with limited playing time doesn't need to be justified or explained to you.

I think Coffey has legit potential as a hitter, granted she seemed to hit a wall in the middle of the year and didn't really start much to end the season but its still early with her.

Tidwell, who is in year 3 of this program, I think will struggle to hit consistently with that swing. Not that she doesn't work or plays hard but its a very long swing much like Sydney Springfield had, who struggled to hit for average.

I am hoping Pilon and the incoming freshmen class can make a splash next season. Of course the transfer portal will also be in play add on. There are some big kids in the portal right now actually. A big slugger from Minnesota is available

When I have to reread my post to verify who and what the f*ck you are actually responding to, that's when I know I wasted some serious time even bothering with you tonight.

Lets see how this works for you:

I don't give frogs a$$ what or whose bench they are sitting on next year, just as long as they are not kicking up dirt in LSU's infield if the Tigers are expecting to compete on a national level.

When I participate on message boards it's for one reason and one reason only, and that is to express my opinion, ultimately right or wrong, and I be damned if I'm going to negotiate it with your "truth".

And once again to be clear on that opinion, I happen to think that neither Tidwell or Coffey belong in an LSU uniform.

And as I further suggested, they are not the only ones.

I would agree on the Tidwell part of it. I believe there should be a sense of pride from knowing you are valuable enough to be a member of what should be a very strong softball team at LSU. At the moment with the expanded roster due to COVID there are way too many girls on the roster. The more girls on the roster taking up space, the less time the actual girls who are good enough to actually help LSU win games are going to have to practice and get better.

There are a handful of girls that should be immediately released from the teAm, many of them did not even get on the field at all this year. unfortunately, I believe Tidwell should be released as well. To be honest, the team does not need the dead weight of players that will never be able to compete at the level they should be able to compete at for LSU. In the end it might be better for those girls to realize they won’t be able to play so they can decide if they want to further their career at a smaller program.

Coffee has way too much up-side to be let go this early. Coffee has some great speed and could end being a fantastic player. The adjustment to the college level takes a little time, Coffee has just begun.

Seems LSU Softball is destined to be middle of the pack in the SEC. Make a regional. Maybe win a Super once a decade. That would be acceptable to most casual fans which probably makes up 80% of base.

Some of us want to best for the program. They are getting to supers annually so they are producing 'good' teams. We are just having discussion/debate on what is needed to get to that next level.

Its going to take better hitting and closing up some of the gaps on defense.

You may indeed be correct, and perhaps I'm judging her a bit too harshly for a true freshman, but I did go back to check her stats, and after the Florida series (Two months ago), she went 4 for 44 at the plate, and finished with an .887 FLD%. the lowest of the regular "starters" by .040 percentage points.

I just don't consciously remember her doing much outstanding this past year except as you say the speed she offers which never hurts anything, but with the apparent way that there seems to be no significant player development lately with the program...

But again like you said, she is just getting started, and after Kramer Robertson's freshman year, I didn't want him anywhere near Baton Rouge, and look how that turned out.

To be certain, where ever she is playing next year be it LSU or some other school, I'll be cheering like hell for her.

Correct.

We have not come close to sniffing a title. They show up at the WS as a predetermined loser it seems every time.

And Tameka Johnson too. Often forgotten but she was a huge part of that team.

It's always interesting to me that people overlook her. On the 2005 team she was the MOST IMPORTANT player on that team, even though Seimone was national player of the year. Temeka was the unquestioned leader of that team and also the Nancy Lieberman award winner (nations best point guard). We lost the game to Baylor in the 2005 final four because Pokey got outcoached, plain and simple. That was the one team that SHOULD have won. The other four teams that made it to the final four were not ranked #1. THAT team was.

The closest we’ve come was a 3rd place finish under Yvette G.
