Gonna be a bunch of buddy Garrity types in the stands. “Run the damn ball coach”

o now players are refusing to play in spring games? We give these kids way too much power. To many premadonas. Let the ones play who want to play and take the nil away from the ones who are scared!
Its about other teams watching your players and offering them money after a spring game. No reason to advertise your talent in spring on TV.

Several major programs have already announced they weren't holding traditional spring games anymore because coaches said it was causing them to lose talent to the transfer portal. Spring game gives every other coach in the country film on your guys and opposing teams are using that to go after talented players that may have been flying under the radar.
Its just another example of the transfer portal ruining college football because of unlimited transfers and immediate eligibility.

The idea that teams are getting a bunch of information from spring games is so overblown imo. I’m saying that as someone who is completely fine with not have spring games
There were players who quit in the middle of the season last year because they thought they deserved more NIL money, so they quit on their team after 4 games to preserve a redshirt season and transfer somewhere else for more money.
You don't think that players who have a big showing in spring games wouldn't start demanding more money or threaten to hit the transfer portal? Especially when unlike scrimmages in closed practice sessions, the spring game film would be readily available for any potential transfer suitors to get them to pony up the cash.

No, I think there is a massive difference in having a decent spring game and having a good start to the season. Especially when spring games were already watered down versions of what the once were, I could be totally wrong though.

LSU should've done this 20 years ago. They never figured out how to make it worth going to and the attendance has shown that.

Yep. Football is a man's game. The ones who won't play in a spring game are wusses and should be cut.

The most important thing is to be prepared for the opener. If that means no spring game, fine.
The offense needs to work this summer like the summer of 10,000 catches. And the defense needs to work this summer like the summer of 2011 when they were getting ready to open with the high-octane offense of #3 Oregon.

For the love of God, get rid of the spring portal

Too many portals
Too much NIL
Bring back amateurs

Thanks NIL. Just another thing on top of a list of things you’ve already ruined in college football. Keep it up and before long college football will practically be irrelevant.

Just make it the same weekend as a baseball home series again. That used to be so fun

Good. It's morphed into the NFL Pro Bowl scenario. Scripted and dull.
Why even call it a practice? If there's running, blocking, takling, passing and such, others can still observe and poach if they want. In fact unless you close all spring practices, you still run the risk. Just make it fan appreciation day and let the kids get autographs and have some good food served.

Brian Kelly has been running the Spring Game like a practice since he got here. This just drops the pretense.

quote:the fans have been treating it that way for 20+ years also. I'm not sure how other teams got 50k people to attend a spring game. But, LSU hasn't ever really cared to try to do anything to increase attendance. This isn't a BK thing.
