How many of those spots are a mile away from the stadium?

None.

LSU's campus is about a mile and half wide and a mile long (give or take a little). Tiger Stadium sits near the middle of campus. Any on-campus parking is less than a mile from the stadium in any direction.

Supply and demand. That's what 25,000 less people does.

If you park a mile from TS, it will be free.

There is no possible way they'll know when the parking is full. This isn't only a lot or lots; they're charging people to park on the public streets too (which is a whole other issue that I have with this bullshite). The only way to charge people is to have someone standing at the many entrance points collecting money. They will not have anyone keeping track of where people go to park.

This is my issue too D. Next year we could be fricked. If they put a guard at the entrance of our "lot that isn't really a lot" I won't even be able to park my truck on Friday night. I'll be very curious to see how they manage our area in particular.

Its just irritating to hear grown men whine like little girls when the school decides to do something that the vast majority of other colleges have already done. LSU is still a cheaper gameday than seven other programs in the SEC.

I'm sorry that people think they have a right to park their car anywhere they want for free, but that just isn't the case.

Why do you people even bother to show up for games? I mean $40 to park? Really. That is outrageous. Due to this enormous fee, I will never set foot on campus again because I am a whiney bitch. Parking spots have never been guaranteed so because you pay money, you should have whatever spot you want? Does it work that way when you go to a professional game? No. I paid $75 to park at a Dallas game and still had to walk. Did I complain? Yes. Was there anything I could do? No, so i shut up paid the money and enjoyed myself instead of making stupid protests, changing my tampon every 30 seconds and dragging an issue out for weeks.

I don't think they'll have someone there. But there will be someone at the gate on S. Stadium and Highland. Where people go from there, he'll have no clue; so he won't have any idea how much parking is available and where it is. I'd be pretty comfortable betting that there will be empty spots in the lot behind our spot for most games next year.

My thoughts exactly. The rest of your post is ridiculous. When someone price gouges me, I get pissed off.

Good, you should have...that's fricking ridiculous.

Sure there was, don't park there.

Sounds to me that you just don't care if someone rips you off.

Yeah, it will not change tailgating in ANY way

You are VERY wrong. It will deter people from going out some. Lots of people that bring the wife and kids out for awhile, not quite as easy when you have 40 bucks a pop per car, and not to mention all those lots ( West of Highland) will not be able to be double parked now, further limiting cars in those lots. And when thinking about going out for UL Monroe or not when it is sandwiched between two SEC games, lots will choose not too now because of the excessive costs. So yes, this will curb lots of the tailgating in certain areas for certain groups, I'm pretty sure of that.

I only wish I could figure out a way to charge $40 for a bag chair. The people next to us would shite their pants.

You may want to look at Google Maps

The Hayfield Lot is 5000 feet from TS.

So you are saying that 280 feet is worth the 20 dollars keeping it under a mile huh?

the only people that will be affected is the tailgating Krewes. Most people don't have any clue how much work it takes to organize this. i don't have a problem with paying. the cluster frick they have planned is another story.
BTW my signed is made, and ready to be displayed.

LINK

quote:

BATON ROUGE - Beginning with the 2011 LSU football season, there will be a charge to park in most lots west of Highland Road on the LSU campus on football game days in order to provide additional services to fans and to offset financial losses caused by budget cuts to the University.

The affected lots are in the Highland Road and Tower Drive areas as well as lots on River Road (Levee Lot) and Gourrier Avenue (Hayfield Lot), plus a parking lot on the golf course Old Front Nine. Access to these lots will be sold on a first-come, first-served and game to game basis, allowing current users in those lots to continue to park in the areas they are accustomed to using.

$20 parking will be true lots.

There is street parking in the $40 lots, but it is minimal. They are going to extend the guard gates out a few feet to accommodate.

All the street parking around the parade grounds have defined spaces, so that won't be a problem.

There are three streets that will be in play - Darymple between Highland and Pentagon where there is no street parking. And the areas of South Stadium, South Campus, and Tower, which make an extended square. This is the only area without defined spaces, but it is not a lot parking area. I imagine they paint spaces during the summer which allows them to shut down the gate when its full.
