If you ignore non-conference results and postseason results, you certainly draw somewhat different conclusions. You are still ignoring just how strong the SEC is in softball, even more so than football, but it is frustrating to never challenge for the conference title. The reality is that Florida and Alabama have dominated the conference standings. Arkansas jumped up for a year or two, as did Tennessee, but really no one has consistently challenged Florida and Alabama. LSU has also avoided the down years everyone else in the conference other than Florida and Alabama have had, though Bama has also slipped to the middle like LSU in the most recent seasons. Regardless 7 Super Regional appearances in 9 years is not mediocrity no matter how you try to define it. It may not be at the level you think it should be (without historical reasons to believe that), but it’s not mediocre.

wouldn’t necessarily want KG but would take a Trisha Ford in 2 seconds, Ehren Earlywhine too.

Ford hasn’t been to the WCWS since 2018, only one year more recently than Torina. She’s only made 3 Super Regional appearances. Earleywine missed the WCWS 6 straight years before being fired for misconduct. That’s the same drought you want to fire Torina for.

A drought that started with Torina taking the worst team she ever had to Mizzou and beating them.

Ford was at ASU now in the SEC and already has surpassed Beth and swept her this yr after getting swept the prior yr. EE has brought Ole Miss back from the dead and saved JT’s job there. I like how they coach, no nonsense, their teams don’t fold late in the season, they are gritty, they compete. These are my type , doesn’t mean I’m right but that’s the style I prefer… you can certainly prefer other styles and that’s ok

And you don't think I want LSU to win?

You have listed literally 3 of the worst people in the softball coaching realm. Congrats.

Earlywhine and Gajewksi are known jerks and have been for a long time. Ford has 2 male assistants who show up to the park every weekend wanting to fight everyone and she condones it. No thanks to all of the above.

I thought Earleywine was fired for being a dick anyway, not because of WCWS appearances.

If Torina doesn't make the WCWS this season or next with what's coming back I would be fine with her walking. It doesn't matter what I think anyway because she just signed a nice extension.

What I don't understand is that I always thought our refusal to hire new and better coaches with our huge budget was the problem. It finally happens, the program has made substantial strides, and some are still irate despite saying the team was going to suck this season. I was completely finished with Torina for as long as Howard Dobson was here, so now that he's gone I feel like she has earned a minute to get back to the 2012-2017 days.

Some the posters here have an agenda. It is pretty obvious because a lot of the posts are almost personal. I just don't know what the agenda is. Beth didn't recruit their kid? Stole their boyfriend in college?

Right? The offense this year has the 3rd most runs every by an LSU team and would have the highest batting average in the history of the program if the season ended today. But now the complaint is that our players are too small and not scary enough...

Yeah...I have noticed a couple quite clearly have a personal vendetta.

What's hilarious is that I agreed with them as early as last season because I was sick of tuning in a couple times a year to watch the team look like fricking arse at the plate. Then Dobson finally leaves, LSU magically looks like gangbusters, but Casualobserver claims Beth Torina sabotaged Howard Dobson and micromanaged, all while giving full reign to a guy in his early 30s

I do hope Torina hires a pitching coach. Feels like pitching development has become a little stagant. Torina deserves some scrutiny there too not addressing this. But we are a top 10 team in a historically strong conference.

power bats are a bigger problem than pitching. we aren't always out pitched more so than out hit.

LSU was 3rd in runs scored in conference play. 6 of their 12 conference losses came in games they scored 5+ runs and they scored less than 3 in only 3 of the losses. Pitching absolutely was the problem.

I said power bats.

I think we are 2nd to last in SEC in HR's behind only S. Carolina that has 1 less.

Not “almost” personal—They make them personal!!! It’s interesting and not and makes it difficult to have a reasoned discussion or debate.

The bats have easily been much better than the pitching this season. The job Bryce has done is incredible given the amount of new faces we have had and we have seen significant improvement from individual players such as Bergeron.

but Bryce is still new, lot of the current players came from Howard leading the recruiting. Good players but if you want more power hitters you’ll have to recruit to that type of style. Of course you can still develop and maximize power numbers but this is Bryce first full season being in charge of all the hitting instruction

This years team is definitely a better hitting group than a pitching group imo. Jayden and Berzon can be good but no one has consistently held it down but we have seen good performances from both at times

So they lost 6 games where they scored 5+ runs but that’s still on hitting because the ball didn’t go over the fence? amazing

I think both points are valid: pitching has been a problem AND lack of power has disadvantaged as well. But imho pitching has hurt more than the lack of extra base hits.
