This is how we end up with an 8th seed bc of the lack of respect and have to play someone like Michigan in round 2

LSU has barely been on TV this year and in the one game that some people actually watched (Penn. St.) LSU didn’t do very well.
Ap basketball voters really only pay attention to whatever is on ESPN. I wasn’t expecting us to be ranked this week.
Jon Rothstein dropping us from 24 to 25 is a joke though.

If LSU is 12-0 entering SEC play, and then go on to win the SEC regular season title, we’d deserve a 1 or 2 seed.
But the NCAA typically underseeds us so your 3 seed prediction would be accurate.

media polls are utterly irrelevant. Ignore them.
The NET rankings are more relevant, since they're based on metrics, not silly voters guessing who's better.

true, but NET rankings will not be very accurate until about 20 games in. There will always be some silly outlier in them early on, like Colgate last year, and somehow this year again. I think whoever invented the NET rankings must have been a Colgate alum and put some hidden code in to rank them higher. They are 30th and they are 3-3 with losses to Cornell and Harvard. Arizona is 32nd at 6-0 with a win over Michigan, who somehow is ranked 3rd at 4-2.

They were ranked high early on and both of their losses are to the #2 and #3 teams currently.

Rankings mean nothing in college basketball. LSU isn’t a name brand, so they’ll have to win more games before they attract the attention of the folks that rank teams. Unlike CFB, though, those rankings mean almost nothing, so it’s just a popularity contest. If they win the games they need to win, they’ll make the tournament.
