Face it. Kelly wasn’t on anybody’s radar b/c he wasn’t a top choice. No one wants to face the murderer’s row in the SEC West and the best football coach of all time unless they are trying to pad the retirement account. And the hire comes a day AFTER another top candidate takes another job. Face it, Woodward whiffed. Even E$PN sees it:
This feels so much like the previous two hires—left in the lurch and forced to take the best available of whatever was left. I hope I’m wrong, but I just don’t think this is a good fit. I think LSU got played again.

So LSU made a push for him earlier but he declined. We ended getting him in the end and you call that settling? Doesn’t sound like you know what that word means.

This dude has been to 2 out of the last 3 playoffs and is one crazy Saturday away from making a 3rd. He has the 2nd highest active win percentage behind only tGOAT all while having major recruiting restrictions at ND, but you’re comparing him to a grass eater and a moronic man child. It's very rare a coaching search lands on its top choice. If Woodward settled for the winningest coach in notre dame history, he ran a pretty good search

We had interest in Riley. He’s a young dynamic coach who would score points. He flirted hard and when it came down to it he got skeered. Really scared. So he got his agent to contact USC and get them involved and they bit.
Now he’s their scared coach
We also had interest in Kelly. He wanted more money so we gave it to him. The article says it all- we contacted Kelly earlier in the fall ! Duh!
So what!?
