LSU has more history with Arkansas and a&m than they do with most charter members of the SEC.
But not Bama and Florida. And just because we've played them more you're kidding yourself if you think a matchup with Arkansas brings more "juice" than Auburn does even if we've played Arkansas more times.

Exactly. It's part of what made the season so great - big games all through the season, and steamrolling through the playoffs.
So why are we scared now? Why do people want a weak schedule just to appear in the playoffs?
Y’all act like we are destined to play the Little Sisters of the Poor every week from here on out.
- Instead of playing Bama 4 times over 4 years, we’ll now play Bama twice and UGA twice.
- Instead of playing Auburn 4 times over 4 years, we’ll now play Auburn twice and Tennessee twice.
- Instead of playing Florida 4 times over 4 years, we’ll now play Florida twice and Texas twice.
- Instead of playing Mississippi State 4 times over 4 years, we’ll now play Mississippi State twice and Oklahoma twice.
- Instead of playing (insert directional school) every year, we’ll have an extra game against an SEC opponent.
There’s no world in which our schedule suddenly gets way easier starting in 2026. If anything, I’d argue that our schedule just got harder considering the extra conference game along with the fact that UGA/Tennessee/Texas/OU appears to be a stronger slate than Alabama/Auburn/Florida/Moo State going forward.
Some people are upset about not having the strongest permanent opponents despite the fact that the overall schedule should be considerably stronger than in the past. Others are upset about not having more inaugural members as permanent opponents despite the fact that we will play basically the same number of inaugural opponents each year as we did in the past. I’m just glad we are finally going to a 9 game schedule and a format where we actually get to play everyone in the conference.

Did you post all that same shite to the people claiming that LSU now has an easier path to the playoffs?
Yeah, I don't like being the only Big 6(8) team that doesn't have a Big 6(8) team as a permanent series.

Is the argument even about not having the "strongest" opponents?
We just don't give a shite about a&m or arkansas and don't consider them rivals. They're just "meh" games on the schedule.
Auburn, Alabama and Florida were games we got excited about, even if the teams were having a down year.

Everyone has an easier path to the playoffs now, because the playoffs are expanding. But thats not really the point.
Two things can be true:
1. We will have a better overall slate of games under the new format than we had under the old format.
2. The path could be more difficult if we had.. idk.. UGA, Bama, and Texas as permanent opponents (using an extreme example for sake of argument).
From a competitive standpoint it’s all relative. From a fan standpoint it’s still an improvement over what we had before.

Which specific teams are you defining as the “Big 6(8)”?

It’s the argument some people are making. Others are complaining that we only have one other inaugural member of the SEC as a permanent opponents others are complaining that they just don’t want to play Aggy every year.
I’m glad we’ll actually be able to play everyone in the conference now after 30 fricking years of only playing Florida + one other SECe team each year. I think this fan base just loves to be pissed off about something, for whatever reason, and refuses to see the good in this.

Would rather play Ole Miss, Arky, and A&M each year than Bama, Florida, and Auburn
No. OM, fine. Otherwise, Auburn and Bama. Play the best to be the best.

I know it sucks. But if we’re good enough, and they’re good enough, we’ll see them in the playoff. Think about it this way. Imagine a LSU Bama playoff matchup that didn’t happen in the regular season? Remember the last time we played Bama twice in one year? Didn’t work out too well.
Florida honestly has fallen below us. But I see us playing Bama from time to time in the playoffs. If Florida becomes good, we’ll see them. And we’ll still play them some years. Gotta move on.

Personally i'll take watching LSU in the playoffs every year.
I’d rather see LSU play for or win the SEC than participate in the playoffs.

When will that happen? That program seems to be falling apart

Probably never. So are they really worth playing anyway? Not so much when they suck. But we’ll still play them every other year for the people who want it.

This is only for 4 years. In year 3, they will change it. Teams evolve and change. It is not like we are never playing Bama again. Yes the last 15 years it meant a lot but that was bc of Saban. Saban is not coach so that changes things.
The only true rival LSU has is Ole Miss. Arkansas is fabricated bc of a huge heavy trophy. A&M thinks that we care but we don't. No one likes A&M anyway.
I would have preferred to keep Florida over A&M but who knows maybe in 3 years they swap again.

You know permanent opponents are a reflection of traditional rivals--except in LSU's case.
Relative to the opponents we have played the most ALL-TIME, we got #2 (OM), #6 (Ark), and #7 (A&M).
None of you care about #1 (Miss St), or #3 (Tulane), and we weren’t going to get #4 (Bama) due to Bama’s other rivalries and balancing.
Y’all act like it makes no sense, when in reality we actually got 3 of the teams we’ve historically played the most.
