Last I checked, Alabama borders both Florida and Georgia. Has that changed?

And all three of AL, FL and GA are not contiguous with Louisiana, which is the point the OP you responded to was making.

Someone wrote that Gumpland did not border GA or FL. Am I mistaken?

Tennessee gets Kentucky and Vanderbilt! How fair is that?

If you don't see how those three give us a better chance of getting to the playoffs, then I don't know what to tell you...

From a historical standpoint, and if I was a casual fan, then sure...let's play Bama, UF and Auburn.

But that's not how this works anymore.

bingo!

If Ole Miss is our traditional rival, why isn't being played the last week in October.

I’d rather play Florida annually than aTm.

That game used to be brutal defensive slug fest back-in-the-day.

It’s very likely we’ll get one of these every year. Preferably AU and UF one year and Bama the next. It’s not that bad.

So much for SEC tradition and the games we played and looked forward to every year--Alabama, Florida, Miss. St., and Kentucky

We didn’t play Kentucky every year though

...we are going to play all of those teams, just not every year… its the only way to do it and then be able to play all teams in conference every 4 years… although, it figures, bama, fla, weak, all of a sudden, and now you do not have them on your schedule…

LSU and 8&4 was a great rivalry in the 60's 70's 80's and long before that as well. I loved that game. Mostly because we beat them a lot. WAtching the whole jar head nation come to Tiger Stadium was great. Best memory of that series is watching Todd Kinchen's short catch lead to a 79 yard touchdown. Seems like he ran 350 yards on that one TD. Also had a 70ish yard punt return.

I really don’t understand why people are crying about this.

The way I see it:
- Instead of playing Bama every year, we’ll now play Bama or UGA every year.
- Instead of playing Auburn every year, we’ll now play Auburn or Tennessee every year.
- We traded a game against a directional school every year for an extra SEC game.

Not to mention the fact that we’ll also now play Texas and OU every other year.

It might not work out the exact way I’ve laid out above (I suppose we could play UGA and Bama in the same year), but the way overall point stands. I can’t see how the new format is anything less than a win from a fan entertainment standpoint.

For 51 straight seasons, from 1952 to 2002, we played Kentucky

Chalk me up as someone not really caring about the playoffs. I care about playing big games every year. And if we win, the playoffs come. But making the playoffs by ducking big teams is dumb.

I pay money to watch big games.
