Jackson needs to be the workhorse next year. Dude is extremely talented. He should see the majority of the snaps. I do like Williams coming back to provide some solid depth to rotate in with the younger guys.

we didn't need a safety to play RB.

This was clearly an attempt at keeping Perk happy at the end of the season in hopes of him not transferring.

Wrong year, wrong position, wrong player.

If Emery comes back would be be a 9th year senior?
He was a great backup to Guice and Fournette.

Had to protect the QB. That’s a big ask of a freshman running back plus Williams is such a class act. I think they will get these guys ready for protections next year.

If someone is injured or limited in Spring (God forbid), you can bring someone in before fall camp. You also have HP40! (Kidding)

I may be in the minority but I do not see any reason to be adding running backs. It seems as though Josh Williams is coming back and that can be your veteran presence in that room. Let those three young guys get some run. Kaleb Jackson showed a lot or promise, Trey Holly flashed in the very limited action he had, and Caden Durham is a highly recruited running back that dominated at the 6A level in Texas.

you are not in the minority, this should happen, those 3 Jackson, Holley and Durham should get 100% of the carries next season, Jackson goes pro and you got the #1 RB for 2025 coming in... its setup nicely

No we didn't numbnuts. They gave Davis the opportunity because he was leaving, and it put a lil tape out there. Cain and Emery were fully healthy for that game.

Michigan has ran 2 RBs, consistently, for the past 5 years. Texas ran two RBs all year until their leading back got hurt. Washington ran 1 RB mostly, all year. Bama ran 2 RBs outside of QB Milroe running.

When Diggs was healthy, it was pretty much him and Daniels combining for 29 of the 36.5 carries per game on average.

To me it comes down to how much they trust jackson and holly. If Josh Williams gets hurt again, you are down to 2 redshirt freshmen.
Not that it matters, but Jackson is a sophomore. Also, many teams trust their young RBs.

Texas had a redshirt sophomore leading their team who had 51 carries total before the season. His backup was a 5 star true freshman and the 3rd string was a true sophomore. When the starter went down, those two combined for 120 a game over the last 4 games, at 5.7 ypc. I remember in 2013 when Bama's backfield was 2 true sophomores and a tru freshman.

I wouldn't be surprised to see one RB from the portal post-spring. There will be plenty of kids who don't make the top two, or who are grad transfers, that will want to make a move in the spring.

In my opinion Williams has been the best running back we have had in the last 2 years. He is a complete back. Just look to the win over bama. 3rd and 8 in fourth quarter and he goes for 10yds with people hanging on. A team player and a good running back. I think he needs more touches next yr.

We don’t beat Wisconsin with out Josh Williams. Pinned back on the 2, he gets 8 yards, then on 3rd and 2, he is hit hard in the backfield by an unblocked LB, and still picked up the yardage for first down.

His pass protection is elite. Nuss needs to feel that he has time to throw, especially early in the season. Let the other backs prove their time to be in the backfield.

I know that Nuss will not be running like JD, so I’ll miss Josh’s downfield blocks. But I will remember them fondly.
