With NIL and Vandy having an off year, now be as good a time as any to do what many people think not possible other than an elite HC job.

It sucks to lose them, but Jay gave KU a glowing recommendation for Fitzgerald, and I'm sure he did the same for Washington with Kelly. We'll probably be in the position of hiring top assistants that will take a head coaching job after a year or two here, but if Jay keeps bringing them in, I'm all for it. Get the most out of them while they're here.
As long as it doesn’t negatively affect recruiting, this can actually be a good thing? Wanna be a Head Coach? Come be an assistant at LSU under Jay, and you have a chance to parlay that into a HC gig after just 1 year. Pretty good recruiting pitch to get the best available and potentially upgrade. We don’t want em all leaving after just 1 season, but seeing it as an obvious stepping stone (and to P5 schools, no less) will only help attract the nest in the business.
And there’s no way either of these came as a surprise to Jay. He knew they were ambitious and wanted to be HCs and likely gave them both glowing recommendations. He’s been thinking about this and working the phones for weeks, if not months, I’d imagine. I don’t know much about Fitzgerald’s personality, but listening to Kelly’s weekly interviews on Hunt and Hill, and I really like him. Wish him tremendous success. Maybe we’ll see him in Omaha down the line.

Even at (the other) DBU, Fitzgerald was named one of the most successful future head coaches, I can't remember the exact terminology. So there's no way that Jay didn't see that one coming. He wanted to use LSU as a stepping stone, that's fine, we got a great class out of him while he was here.

Ben Mcdonald was on a podcast stating there's a very large chance LSU gets USM's pitching coach. the guy who kicked our arse lol

I had no complaints about USM's pitching staff. Their pitching combined with our hitting could have wrecked Omaha. So if the USM pitching coach wants to join us, welcome

slow that roll. he is a couple of years away from a nice state pension package having been in Mississippi forever, and the future HC job at USM is his if he wants it

And none of that changes if he comes to LSU for a few years.

We got no starting pitching. We got no assistant coaches....

Would he still get that pension if he came here for a few years, them went back to USM?
Don't know how that all works, but I'd imagine Jay could triple his salary at least.

Nice!
Go pay the man, Jay!

Jay, or really LSU, has a lot of money to throw at him. And he can always go back and be the USM head coach later, it's not like going to LSU for a while will stop that.

The world will be a better place with random Dumb and Dumber references. Always lightens things up.

Pitching stats actually improved from a season prior despite losing SP and having way more offense.

shite, he can draw his pension from the State of Mississippi while LSU is paying him nice bucks to be the PC here. Then he can still “come out of retirement” to return to USM as head coach in a few years.
Nothing but positives for Ostrander’s future by becoming JJ’s pitching coach.

Wait this is too much good news for coach Ostrander we don't want him to stroke out before he comes here!
