But Oregon won the very prestigious B1G regular season championship so they should be the 8 seed per Hunt Palmer even though their record and RPI are both worse than ours

I really thought our baseball fan base was smarter but the last 36 hours have proven different. Neither Hunt nor D1 Baseball said that they would leave LSU out of a top 8 seed. However, they both said that they don't know what a NCAA selection committee would do, and it's not unheard of for them to want to "grow the game" and give a West Coast team an undeserved top 8 seed over a 6th SEC team in the top 8.
I read all the comments hating on D1 Baseball and they have LSU safely in the top 8, but they said no one can really know what the committee will do.

So DEI NCAAB.
Awesome.

Yes, they've done it plenty of times before. And it burned LSU. Do you recall 2011?

RPI is such an antiquated system they need to do away with it badly.

Oregons RPI is #13 and they’ll likely be the national #8 seed. Oregon also swept Oregon St 4 games to 0 a week or 2 ago. RPI is only one metric the committee uses.

Oregon also didnt play a tough series away from home. Iowa is the only one and their schedule looks even worse than oregons. They also played 41 Q3/4 games with only 9 Q1 wins.

More like capitalist NCAAB. This is not new. LSU has come out on both sides of that coin in the past. LSU travels well, so the NCAA does not see them traveling to a Super Regional as a potential revenue loss. But they may see giving another team the nod as a potential gain.
I do not expect that to happen this year with LSU, however. I am often wrong so take my opinion as only that.

What does the fact that you religiously read Hunt Palmer’s bullshite have to do with intelligence? You probably are Hunt Palmer honestly. The tweet was typical late-season local sports media clickbait and I was being a smartass about it, why are you so defensive?

Can you explain why playing a Super Regional away from LSU allows the NCAA to make money because I don’t understand how?

quote:Oregon, for anyone that’s been paying attention, is legit. They’re playing their best ball right now winning 14 of their last 15 games, including a 4 game sweep of Oregon State. I personally think Oregon not only deserves a national seed, but is one of the top 8 teams even if their RPI says otherwise.
But Oregon won the very prestigious B1G regular season championship so they should be the 8 seed per Hunt Palmer
By that logic, Oregon State on the other hand, has a great RPI but is 9-5-1 in their last 15 including being swept by Oregon and doesn’t pass the eye test. The Committee can’t choose both Oregon and Oregon State without looking foolish in their explanation.
It’s been 2 days since Hunt tweeted the outrageous scenario of the 8 decisions the Committee needed to do to keep LSU out of it. He deserved the Rant being the Rant for a day, but it’s time to put it to bed. Hunt’s on our side, he was just trying to stir us up.

quote:12-1 though in Q1/Q2 games and won the Big 10 which basically replaced the Pac12 as the 4th best conference this season with the Pac12 being dissolved. The sweeping OSU 4-0 was big too since OSU had been hanging in the top 8 and Oregons done enough to squeeze into the top 8.
Oregon also didnt play a tough series away from home. Iowa is the only one and their schedule looks even worse than oregons. They also played 41 Q3/4 games with only 9 Q1 wins.
Nowhere am I saying they are going to be seeded higher than LSU though, they’re not.

He can’t, because it makes no sense.
Let’s see.. makes a lot of sense, from a capitalist perspective, to have a team that will have a 12–13,000 home attendance to travel to a team that has a capacity of 4-5000 fans. Let’s lose the revenue of those extra 8000 fans. Lol

You sound really upset that someone called you out for posting bullshite lies.

Not as familiar with NCAA baseball as many of you. Got a question: Why is there such a big disparity between the weekly rankings, where I believe we are #1 or close to it, and the top 8 seed thing where we're closer to #8?

This doesn't compare to 2011
