They sure did. Must have been looking at a bracket that wasn't updated.

Well that sucks. They've won 3 in a row in the ACC tournament.

Who the hell knows what'll affect ours and Ole Piss's NET ranking.
We just need MSU and A&M to be in the tourney.

Lunardi dropped Indiana St out of his last four in and bumped Texas AM up from last four out to last four in in his latest prediction. He has both Mississippi St and Texas AM making the tournament. That puts Ole Miss and LSU as the next two highest teams in the NET rankings to not make the tournament, giving them an automatic big. That's assuming that Lunardi is correct with his bubble teams which is not always the case

Lunardi likes to think the conference tournaments make a difference.
I'm with ALT26 in that they largely do not matter, and most of the time the committee already either had the bubble team in or not.

Yep. I think the field is already set. The only thing that changes it is i5 a team that wasn't going to make it as an at-large wins their conf. tournament. In that case, the "last team in" gets knocked out.

For LSU's sake I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think A&M is in. Their NET rating is ok, not great. Their SOS is good. But outside of beating Iowa St. they really didn't do anything remarkable. In the SEC they beat three NCAA Tournament teams. But all of those games were at home. Road wins at LSU, Missouri, and Georgia aren't going to move the needle. They'll get credit for playing a tough Non-conf. schedule. However, they didn't do much against it.

It's their bad losses.
A&M is 2-5 in quad 3 games. There's only one other team in the top 70 NET rankings that has 3 quad 3 losses, Villanova at 3-3. everyone else has 2 or less losses in Q3.

Like you said, they played a really tough OOC schedule, but they didn't win much in doing so.

I still think they are in, but those Q3 losses are killing them. Losing at home to LSU, Ole Piss, Ar-Kansas and then on the road at Vandy hurts alot. If Memphis were to move up to 75 instead of 76, then that would be a Q2 loss instead of Q3. Regardless, they have too many bad home losses.

This is kenpom, not NET. Net has UGA at 100. LSU is 96 ole miss is 95

Exactly, I noted earlier that KenPom updated in real time vs. the daily update provided by NET. At this point in the season, moves on KenPom usually match upcoming moves on NET pretty closely.

I remember when we just flat refused an NIT bid because it was beneath us. Now we’re begging for one.

Incorrect. The last time LSU refused an NIT bid was when Ben Simmons flat out said he wouldn't play in it. That team has toxic chemistry. Instead of telling Simmons to kick rocks, Johnny Jones cowered. It was an awful look

I remember when a coach was hired and there weren't zero players on the team and there weren't sanctions hanging over his head when he came ala Will Wade, Trent Johnson, Johnny Jones.

I think Miss St and A&M already had secured their bids at the end of the reg season, and made them more robust with their second round tourney wins yesterday.

Would pretty much put us in NIT if St wins this one and A&M wins later. They'd both definitely be in the big dance.

Looks that way. LSU and Ole Miss would get the 2 auto bids from the SEC if A&M can beat Kentucky.

Miss St is squarely in at the moment so as long as A&M wins today they should be NCAAt bound leaving us and Ole Miss as the top 2 SEC teams not in the tourney.

That was some halftime speech. Only had 22 points at halftime vs LSU, and now has a 20 point 2nd half lead vs Tennessee the next game.

That's because Miss St is a very good team that has underperformed. they play great defense and are strong at guards and bigs. And LSU was right there with the upset if they just made their shots at the goal.

Pretty sure we were never offered. Ben Simmons announced after the last game that he would skip the NIT, as you would expect a #1 draft pick to do. Then there was talk that Blakeney had the flu.

That led to Johnny Jones quitting on the rest of the team by announcing we wouldn't accept an NIT bid if it were offered.

I am sure Jones quitting because Blakeney and Simmons were out sat well with the rest of the team who may have enjoyed playing a game or two without the distractions and some extra playing time.

I would have fired Jones right after his announcement.

That was not Jones' decision. That was an athletic department decision as a whole. That team chemistry was more toxic than everyone knew. It was absolutely the correct decision to bypass the NIT. LSU would have lost money on the deal and played another game where they would have gotten their asses beaten.

Whoa Beard said Ole Miss wouldn’t be playing in the NIT so LSU is a lock now. He said some of his players were dealing with off court stuff
