We don’t have the personnel to play his defense and if you change the defensive philosophy and style do you lose certain players to the portal who were sold a certain vision to play in this defense.
That being said I did enjoy LSUs old style of defense that was more aggressive and relied on our defensive personnel to beat their offensive personnel every play and did not depend on zone

Chris Kiffin likely DC in waiting

Chris Kiffin is the next DC. He’s currently the Co-DC. I can’t figure out why that’s not apparent to everyone.

Most of those guys walked on Saban. Or didn't need much of a push. Maybe glad to get get fired us the best way to put it.

Baylor is about to pay him $12 million. He can afford it. That being said we aren’t going back to a 3-4 defense with the young D line we have recruited. We don’t have any OLB. I like Dave but he is going to find another landing spot. Lane would probably ask O’s opinion and don’t think they ended on the best of terms.

Aranda was a good, solid DC. If he had a fault it was his very analytical mind overthinking some things. He was better when he simplified his scheme and turned folks loose.
He is wealthy and his family supposedly loves Waco. He doesn't have much motivation to move. I doubt that he wants to be a head coach again and he is better suited to the coordinator role.
One of Miles best hires.

Pelini spent quite a long time at a much smaller school coaching against inferior talent. Aranda has been coaching at a P4 school. Their situations aren’t the same.

We are currently 4th in the country in total defense. Granted we still have three tough teams ahead and its unlikely we finish that high, but Baker has steadily improved each season he has been a DC.
Aranda's best season was his first when we finished 10th in 2016. Aranda also got progressively worse each season and we finished 31st in 2019 and that was with a shite ton of talent and depth. When you score a lot points fast, its natural to struggle defensively at times, which hurt Aranda in 2019 and its not helping Baker this season either.
I would love to see more man coverage as well, but other then Pickett Im not sure we have the personnel to execute it on a consistent basis, especially with the loss of Spears.

Who would have thought Kiffin would bring EO back? He did so because he saw him as a value-add.
So it’s not such a stretch that he could bring DA back if he thought he could also be a value-add.
Since none of know what’s on LK’s mind we’ll have to standby to standby.
